Agree, a lot of the 'once a year' speccies won't know what's hit them. Will be a great sight and sound!! Hopefully, it will keep running.

Is there a better sound than that of Porsche engined Flat-6 ???

Interesting comparison on the main British rally forum showed that the top UK National crews (including Mr Burton) would have been about two minutes off the pace of the WRC boys over a comprable stage last year but agree that it will give the once a year brigade something to think about! It's ironic that this car is being outlawed by the RACMSA when it creates so much interest and gets people excited about rallying...

Are you sure 2 minutes over one stage is accurate?

It was me that did the comparison and it was of the performance of the first cars on this year's Quinton Stages that ran the same Halfway stage as Wales Rally GB last year.

The gap wasn't q 2 minutes - the figures are below - draw your own conclusions:

"Sure you mentioned that in jest, but comparing performances from the recent Quinton Stages where SS1 was run identically (I think - pls correct me if not) to SS9 of Rally GB produces the following times (Quinton times without numbers in front):

    1 Loeb Citroen C4 WRC 10:19.6
    2 Sordo Citroen C4 WRC 10:29.7
    3 Hirvonen Focus WRC 10:31.5
    4 Solberg P Citroen C4 WRC 10:32.1
    5 Latvala Focus WRC 10:39.5
    6 Ogier Citroen C4 WRC 10:40.8
    7 Solberg H Focus WRC 10:46.8
    8 Wilson Focus WRC 10:47.7
    9 Ostberg Impreza WRC S14 10:51.1
    10 Al-Qassimi Focus WRC 11:09.2
    11 Rautenbach Citroen C4 WRC 11:12.2
    12 Burkart Citroen C4 WRC 11:24.7
    13 Perez Focus WRC 11:32.4
    14 Flodin Impreza N14 11:38.4
    15 Araujo Lancer Evo X 11:40.3
16 Prokop Lancer Evo IX 11:43.0
    A Burton Peuget Cosworth 11:43
    S Perez Focus WRC 11:44
    17 Kaur Impreza N12 11:45.9
    18 Al-Attiyah Impreza N14 11:46.7
19= Gassner Lancer Evo IX 11:49.1
    19= Brynildsen Skoda Fabia S2000 11:49.1
    R Chilman Impreza N12 11:54
    J Belton Impreza WRC S8+ 12:03
    P Davy Impreza N12 12:08
P Naylor Lancer Evo IX 12:11
T Bailey Lancer Evo IX 12:15
    G Cooper Impreza N12+ (B13) 12:15
    J Lloyd Focus WRC (2002) 12:20
J Anderson Lancer Evo VIII 12:20
    A Barnes Focus WRC (2002) 12:23
    W Utting Impreza N12 12:27
    D Davies Escort Mk1 12:48
    M Tomkinson Impreza WRC 98 12:50
S Rogers Lancer Evo VI 12:51
    K Davies Escort Mk2 12:53
    G Mills Manta 400 12:56
    M Edwards MG ZR 1400 12:57

I know it was a different day, different conditions etc but it gives a measure to just how quick those full time WRC boys are or are we all (me included) just slightly less able than we'd ever care to admit?!

Many thanks for posting these details, I know it isnt exactly a like for like comparsion but thought it was very interesting and yes it now looks as though I was slightly over emphasising the gap! I thought it was interesting to bring this issue up though as always remember how the Irish fans used to post how their guys were going to blow away the WRC crews whenever they ventured onto a tarmac WRC round only to find the margin was somewhat wider than they would have hoped. Lets just appreciate the noise and spectacle of the P.C rather than expect it to take the game to Loeb and co!

As a side issue I hear that getting an entry on the GB National is causing a bit of an problem for some crews who thought they were on the list only to find their entry has been bumped....

Well in your table there you can see Steve Perez is 12 seconds slower than himself.

He did both events in the same car. The first time is his RAlly GB time, the second is from the Quinton.

His navigator put the time difference on the Quinton down to a more marbly surface and that on the Quinton it was the very first stage whereas on Rally GB, it was a way into the event.

I was just making the point that if perez was 12 seconds slower that is a rather large margin of error, nearly 10% of the time lost to the leader
