Perhaps Alonso is just sounding a note of caution, to guard against complacency within the team, although there's little danger of that in an organisation like McLaren. The comments remind me of those which Ayrton Senna used to make at McLaren, using a bit of psychology with the team and also his opponents.

Note of caution, agree, the season hasn't began yet instead of negative effect from this kind or comment will give the team alert that hiring a world champion is not guarantee they will win the title if not supported by a reliable car and solid team-work, not only psichologically constructive for the team but it also switch burden of being winner to his opponents.

i think that comment is better than if he said like: "Mclaren is the best car and ready to defeat regularly its opponents"

It sounds like Alonso might be getting a little claustrophobic in the McLaren environment...time will tell.

I don't see where's the big fuzz coming from. In the interview FA is relaxed, and he explains that he feels their schedule is tight to have the car ready for the first race. He never explains why.

Not a big deal, IMO.
