Like the Twingo, this must be an Italian homologated R1. Can they rally abroad?

A steward os dead hitted by a car at rally legend. What a tragedy.
    Rally is stopped and finished

Edit: we can't understand the real number of victims, that could be more than one. There are also wounded.

Too bad! But it was just a matter of time there, must be the event with the worst safety in whole Europe.

    R.I.P...

+1, Most people among us here should know the chances of this happening were quite big. Almost all zones that should normally be forbidden areas were packed with people... This will always happen on events with a lot of spectators and organizers who don't take their responsibility... Let's not forget there are more events like this (for example Condroz in Belgium, next month).

Very sad. But indeed, if it was going to happen somewhere is was always going to be at this event.

I sadly agree with you. It's enough watching at some videos on youtube to understand that.
I saw the video of the crash. The car went straight in the wet road in a corner after a crest (unbelievable that there were people at such spot, just unbelievable).

Yeah just in the airport heading back from the rally. Really sad. Great event - first time for me attending this year. It feels to me that with the popularity now it is out-growing the rally in terms of infrastructure, crowd control, parking, safety etc.

I guess you only need to look at the YouTube videos to see how the attendance is growing year on year. I was thinking to myself there will eventually come a tipping point where it changes. Maybe this is it. It's so often the way with a fatality.

Have watched footage of this event over the years on YouTube; and whilst it looks a great event (and I wish we had something similar in the UK) some of the spectator areas are not great; one always felt it was only a matter of time before something happened.

Organisers of all events will soon be forced into 'spectator zones' -and no admittance anywhere else; as this can't keep happening.

Is there a better sound than that of Porsche engined Flat-6 ???
