yes...the fact they used the mini and not a BMW model is exactly that...they are not very serious about it and thats why they selected a b-class car company to represent them, so if mini does well they are going to be happy and if mini fails which it will most lkely thier image will be unscathed.

also they hired prodrive the set things up...just like ford did with m-sport not a direct BMW involvment.

Exactly - it's a win/win for BMW. In simplistic terms, the Mini does well, they get good publicity and pat themselves on the back. If it fails, then so what - they're not hugely involved - it's Prodrive's fault. And the same is true for Ford - AbuDhabi provide most of the money for the team along with sales of Rally cars - rather than fundingfrom Ford Motor Company.
I seem to remember reading that BMW didn't like their cars in Rallying - as the cars get dirty and it didn't fit their image!!

Do anyone know the reason why Dani Sordo split from his codriver Diego Vallejo? One of the article I vaguely remembered reading it has something to do with their disagreement over money. I sort of guess what that means, but I rather not speculate if it could be wrong.
