Any driver who has kissed the wall

As some of the hardest knocks in racing are experienced by SCSA and PuT drivers who kiss the wall, what are your feelings about driving after a shunt and what medical advice are you given?

I believe in the US that if you have been knocked out in an accident there is an automatic 'ban' for a few days before you can drive a race car again. I am not sure about the road. perhaps one of our American friends can help on this

I also recall with Tony Kings big accident with Duncan Gray in 2005 at Turn 1 (where I nearly got speared by a bit of Stock car), Tony started to drive home then he felt unsafe and pulled over and let his passenger drive the rest of the way.

I can see where James Sutton is coming from, but he should take some responsability in the tragic accident

This is typical of the british justice system. And yes i am beating a drum. Those people out ther who know me and my family will understand why.

If I had a shunt where I was advised not to race, then I would not drive on the road either.

I can't comment on this article, I'm not a medic. Some of it smells of his legal team spinning a better defence than the prosecution's argument, though having been in a situation in the past where my brain was lost, and my body went into autopilot (I was spun in a centrifuge to the point where I was so dizzy that I was totally out of it for about two or three hours! The things we do for "fun"!!), I could understand it from that viewpoint.

Best I keep out of the wall then!

I would like to come in on this 1 if i may! Speaking from my experience in 2005 i have to say that the team of medics and doctor's who looked after me at the Rock, and may i say are some of the best in the country!! looked after me both during the meeting and after, 1..I was not allowed to leave the Medical Centre until they were happy with my condition!, 2..I was then only allowed to leave on the understanding that i was going to have someone with me to drive me home and who would also be with me for the next 48hrs!!

I have been racing now for over...lets just say a few years lol..and i have never herd of any racing driver being allowed to drive himself home after having a masive Shunt...if the injury's arnt bad the shock that comes out later can be!

And Yes it does hurt allot when you hit a concrete wall at 150mph!!! but its not stopped me.
