Malaysia Rally Championship - Round 1

    Hey everyone,

The Malaysian rallly series kicks off this weekend. Should be an interesting opener, Singh is driving a hired Satria!

That's certainly one way to start your title bid on the back foot!

    Cheers

    Hey guys,

I'm not sure if anyone's interested in this series (??), but if so here's a report from the opening leg in Malaysia. Sounds like staying out of harm's way was the challenge of the day.

Malaysia's second car maker is Perodua.
They use components from Daihatsu in their models, like Proton used to use Mitsubishi parts.

The Perodua is basically a Malaysian manufactured re-badged Daihatsu. The Viva has a 800cc turbo engine pushing out almost 200hp, full time 4WD and weighs just 700kg. The damn thing goes like a rocket!

The Myvi is slighter larger and weighs about 980kg, with a 1 liter turbo engine. It also has 4WD.

Singh could not get his Evo cleared from Malaysian customs in time to compete and had to rely on the hired stock grp N Satria, driving the doors off it.
