It seems that the main problem lies between seat and steering wheel...

Does anybody know, or can anybody find, how much suspension travel these tarmac cars have now? It looks like quite a lot.. More for tarmac than traditionally we saw on gravel cars 20 years ago.. Surely somebody has or can find real info..

There were some values for VW floating around but I don't remember them exactly. I think it was something like 37 cm on gravel and 26 on asphalt but I might be wrong.

I believe the front arches have a bigger gap between the top of the tyre and the arch, see the sliding photo of the Fiesta?

The three photos which you asked and quoted, the car is Not sitting on the ground

That looks like it could be in that range....and if that is the case it really is a huge increase--for both surfaces. Mid 90s Group A Subaru and Fords were right at 155mm total shaft travel (I have bought ex Boreham and Prodrive Bilstein inserts) and gravel fronts was around 190-200mm.

I may personally be only interested in gravel, but I watch and study---and scratch my head---asfalto rally and it has seemed that tthe cars a LOT more travel than previously --on tarmac I'm saying and that they work much better than previously...

I wonder if they use different uprights and subframes (like in the Good Ol' days of Group A)?

Do you know if Manufacturers must still submit detailed Homologation papers as before?
I haven't really looked over anything since the Whirled Rally Car Escort Cosworth.
    (sigh) how I miss details
