Have to say that Huttunens performance was absolut stunning. First ever win for Hyundai r5 in wrc. And he did it with old spec car.
Well I’m glad they didn’t cancel the whole event, it wasn’t a traditional winter event, but it was good....different from the normal, but close race and exciting. I’m sick of people slagging it off, sure it wasn’t what we expect from Rally Sweden, but it was still WRC.
Excellent from Evans, Tanak back in the game, Rovanpera tremendous...outstanding today.
I am mighty impressed by rovanpera. Perhaps he is actually as good as youkhi wanted us to believe. Lets hope he can show the same pace on all other rally's too, so we might even have a 5 way fight this year.
Also impressed by evans and tanak, both showing dominant speed.
Weird to see neuville, and especially ogier so slow compared to their team mates.
Hats off for Evans/Martin, Rovanpera/Haltunnen and Toyota! It’s great to have a new crew at the top of the series and even greater to see a young kid beating a 6 times champ in the fairest possible way. Well done!
Btw, any ‘special’ tweet from Mrs. Ogier? One wonders if Citroen was really the one to blame for Ogier loosing his mojo...
Strange event, but the outcome is very interesting. I remember the beginning of the last year was the same as the ending of the 2018 seasson, and this year so many changes. Glad to see that Evan's pace in Monte wasn't one time deal. He might be a contender for the title? Rovanpera exceeded the expectations, that was really incredible and makes me real wonder about the upcoming rounds (again). I wonder if road position had to do something with Ogier's and Neuville's lack of pace. Loosing third place to Kalle doesn't look good, but I think it has to do with Ogier's style, he rarely the one to be very aggressive and take the risks and plays the long game, so I think he did pretty good and has a good position going to Mexico.
Rovanpera had at least two close calls on the PS. Ogier clearly wasn't commited to risk it all. Doesn't mean Rovanpera wasn't impressive.
Anyway Ogier has not had winning pace in Sweden (and Finland) the last 2-3 years and was often beaten by teammates (Tanak Sweden 2017, Suninen (and Evans) Finland 2018, Lappi last year.
I wouldn't make so much drama out of Neuville's pace either. He lost almost all the time on friday when first on the road and on saturday he was one of the first again. On the short stage and PS he was up there.
