I would imagine that there are strong contractual agreements in place that cover exactly the M-Sport situation this weekend. I suspect if Sunninen had stayed ahead of Paddon or was in contention for a podium,it would have been different.
At least this is up front and not down to hidden instructions.
Did Hyundai will hold Paddon do not attack PS and allow Neuville grab some PS points? Don't think so.
Its a team sport and a no-brainer to swap team-mate positions, especially here as it has no effect on their total Manu's points and helps the higher placed driver in the Driver's Ch'ship.
And people are forgetting that Ogier suffered a much worse road position on day one than his team-mates, hence falling behind them. Given a level playing field he would probably be ahead already.
I don't know if Neuville has much chance of PS points with his pace this weekend anyway, but I'm pretty sure the team will have told Paddon not to risk the manufacturer points for a few extra drivers points in the PS.
Bit of a different situation for them this weekend with Paddon their only competitive driver and the others a long way behind though.
