[ERC] Rally di Roma Capitale 2025
I am surprised this topic was completely missing here. Maybe because moving the event from usual date at the end of July to the beginning?
But today was published entry list - https://app-cdn.sportity.com/82b343e...025%20June.pdf
Who is Jump11? Did somebody copy and paste a password?
basso is going to win... or at least be on podium
but eh, roope, llarena, lindholm, marczyk, ostberg, mabellini, jon, mille, tempestini, jos, max, phil, solans... what an amazing field.
tho i miss heikkila, he looked promising! and sean jonston, the american. he was a fun dude (tho he was in wrc2, not erc?)
Don't you underestimate Andrea Crugnola, who won the last 2 editions? ;)

Quite a few of those ERC guys are more gravel-orrientated so wont challenge for the top.
Jon Armstrong should do really well after a big 'test' on the 3-day Donegal Rally. But he needs a reliable car as the Fiesta let him down there, plus a bit of luck which he rarely gets.
Of the others, Mabellini should go close, but I doubt anyone will beat the top Italians.
I know very well that people are visiting (every) forum less and less. Social media based mainly on pictures and videos and only few words of text are trendy. But I must say I dont like it. I prefer forum, where all messages are readable step by step as they were posted. Social media for me is usually full of chaotic messages from everywhere...
I totally agree with you. I'm a memeber of several Facebook groups, but in the long run it doesn't work for someone who likes to read something more than just a bunch of stupid photos or silly videos.
true! dedicated forums are great because theres so much knoweledge being shared directly. but even here the erc sub is way smaller than the wrc sub. its basically 8 of us here in every topic lol (and im always late - timezones).
anyway, long live erc! best rally championship out there imo
Do you not love multiple videos of a busy Chinese subway where the ignorant person won't give up their seat for the pregnant woman with shopping bags but another person does who then fake accidentally spills water on the ignorant person and they stand up in shock and then the good Samaritan takes their seat instead and its like some sort of justice has prevailed? It's brilliant stuff.
I use a few other sports and car forums and although users have decreased they're still fairly popular. I put this down to them being more modern than this one which probably hasnt changed since it started and certainly not in my 15 years.
I'm really glad this forum is still going but it would be great if a newer version could be found where it's much easier to post pictures, videos and social media. I think this would make it a lot more attractive both to use and to bring in new members.
I think that's fighting a losing battle. Forums are obsolete, we may like them, but that's just how it is. They've been dying a slow death since 10 years, and I mean almost every forum of every topic, not just motorsport.
Even if you modernize them a bit, I don't think users on the younger side will bother signing up and stuff, they probably prefer having social medias account where they can follow all their interests in the same place, even if worse.
tbf it is possible to create a reddit sub and keep it 'private', just accepting people 'from here' or ok people that one knows from other forus. it is possible to use it like we use here, with basic topics, with rules allowing only the creation of 'next event' topics (to avoind infinite topics for each subject). and since it would be private anyway, we wouldnt have fb-insta-x freaks posting new topics all the time asking "where should i watch wrc?"
BUUUUUUUUUUUUT i'd prooobably vote for 'no' because im lazy and dont want to get sucked into more internet lol
But back to topic. I am happy that organisers has made a significant changes in the route this year, lot of stages is different, opposite direction or completely new. I am happy that they have more than 200 km of SS and each day they have one stage which has over 30 kms. It will be a big challenge!
PLuto, do you have anything to do with this? ;)

Miko Marczyk wins a small rally in Italy, a good test before Roma Capitale:

New livery for Simone Campedelli :)

On the start there are missing (from priority drivers) Lindholm, Verstappen and Sandrin.
No Philip Allen on the QS ?
There has been an explosion in a gas deposit / distributor in Roma today, many people injured, smoke clouds. As far as I can tell, it's not far from SS1, so don't be too surprised if it's cancelled. Maybe PLuto can say more.
It sounds a really bad incident, but I dont think there's a danger of any further explosions so hopefully SS1 can still go ahead.
Mabellini fastest on the qualifying stage. That's a surprise to me. I thought Crugnola or Basso would win it.

i cheer for max (for obvious reasons haha) but im yet to see that SPARK, u'know? its always "oh, he's learning, take it easy". and i know and agree, but im yet to see that "sPARK haha.
basso had a rear-right flat basically at the start of the qualy, but he was fastest on the free practice, i think we can expect that car on the front during the weekend
No news about SS1 one hour away, so I imagine the smoke has dissipated or is not a problem in the SS1 area
Coverage has started so all looks good for SS1.
51 cars separated by 10 secs! no car is more than 0.4 behind the car ahead, or something like that.
cool
Why didn't Lindholm & Verstappen start?
Marczyk impressive so far!
After all that Miko overshot a junction and lost the lead. Still a great morning though.
