What is your favorite finale rally?
Wales and Campbell will make it happen!
Given the provisional date I reckon Valais is the most likely outcome, Cyprus is probably the most likely plan B.
Being biased towards rallies on my own shores I’d love to see a wet and muddy British season finale. Either north-mid Wales or the Lake District and Scottish Borders. The Pokerstars Rally all of a sudden becoming a 200+km ERC round would also be incredibly cool.
Biggest favourite from beginning is Cyprus. But still nothing decided. And no news. Which is bad for championship...
Ok, lets go step by step. Rallye du Var - I know that no event in France wanted ERC rounds during last years, also most probably because of FFSA? Race in UK as the last round will not help the championship as most of regulars will simply miss it (expensive in terms of transport to the island + they are out of EU which brings more troubles). Tuscan Rewind - it is nice race, but I dont believe they want to put second round in same country. Cyprus - very expensive round in terms of destroyed car after the rally, also nonsense for juniors as for 2WD cars this event is only for survive. But currently the biggest favourite. Rallye du Valais is beautiful event, despite in the past years it losts part of its charm (mainly because of shorter mileage of stages, so they have lost some of the beautiful stages. Also they have changed the organisation team this year. And I am not sure if they have enough budget to do ERC round. And Condroz? I am afraid about this event in terms of safety issues. In the times of Matton there were some push for this race, but now...
Old RAC rally would be perfect!
I'd like to see Valais or Condroz from the ones mentioned, but I've always heard of those Condroz safety problems in previous years. Are those about too many spectators?
Any tarmac round will do. Bring Corsica back! ;)
Cyprus it is then!
OK Mull/IoM you may have a small point; and I know the Atlantic ferries are subsidised but there'd have been up to three slogs to the south-western tip of the peninsular and two to the borders of Russia, and Rome isn't exactly central. The later this call is will probably have more bearing on people showing up.
Iain Campbell should get a top rally series back in the UK if at all possible.
If it cant get into the WRC then all efforts should be made to bring the Circuit of Ireland / Rally NI back into the ERC.
Spa Rally could be an option too for the final.

UK wise, we've got the Cambrian Rally (essentially Wales Rally GB lite, with some local authority funding) and Trackrod Rally Yorkshire in the right place calendar wise, but I can't see either sourcing the funding required for ERC and both would need to be at least 100km longer. Nice thought though, they'd be great events!
If Northern Ireland can arrange any state funding, they'll get the amount needed for the WRC.
I do wonder if somebody could get some decent money out of the Manx Government for an event there, as there was some fuss there over the loss of the Manx 'International'/Rally Isle of Man in recent years and its economic impact, even though the event by that point had already been struggling for years. But an event there would need some Azores level of financial support, being an island off an island...
Thread is a little muddied between ongoing events for future calendars and finding one round to fill a void this year.
Sounds like the ERC needs a rally more than any rally wants ERC this year, how does this affect the subject of coughing up the 'ERC money'?
For future rounds though, will be interesting to see how long high inflation persists and whether some governments/authorities will then support events as we're used to.
Maybe 3-Stadte rally could be option? It's set to be held in October.
Also can be nice comparation between Barum and 3-Stadte for FIA as both events aim for WRC in near seasons.
