Good for Oliver, but followed by many? There is just 1 post here about this championship in the whole year ;)

December 2022 - David Higgins suggests not enough has been done to equalize the performance between the Open Class regulations and the R5/ Rally2 regulations.
2023 is eight rounds. The best 6 results count towards the championship.

These rule changes in America are weird. Im not sure I understood...
Subaru dont want WRC cars there, so they will be banned. Then everybody thinks R5s should be used there but the models are not all homologated... the ones that are homologated are still slower than the subarus, and the cost for parts coming from europe will make everything more expensive...
So.... Whats the plan? Lose Subaru or have a Championship with only 2 subarus fighting for the title?
Haha hard decision. Subaru has been carrying this series on their back... But they NEED more participants to grow more, like last year with two WRC cars...
ARA need to adopt FIAs Rally5 to Rally2 pyramid ASAP.
Make own class for the US 4wd Open, for local engineering.
Rally is still a very small activity in the US, they need to get some cups for Rally5, 4 and 3, and let the battle begin between Rally2 and 4wd open for the numbers.
Import some profiles like Henning and Petter Solberg, maybe Loeb and Ogier, and get The WRC promotor to come with a All Live team and a Netflix like drive to survive to get press, the americans would love it and storm out to watch.
Special stage rallying is always likely to be what might be considered niche motorsport in the USA. Livestreaming of stages or highlights video packages other than just Subaru.
The 2022 Championship was run at some fairly high average speeds, The 2C engineer? said the diff maps needed rewriting for the Hyundai WRC.
What might be considered is the consistency of the number of participants, as older competitors retire etc, other competitors, organisers, and volunteers take their place.
From what I understand some of the competitors did not like ARA's change of rules and restrictor size (after a relativity short time span) which necessitates another engine tune etc.
Higgins suggestion was the Open 4wd class were awarded points the same as the R5/ Rally2 class so the overall rally title could go to an R5/Rally 2 with greater consistency than an Open 4wd competitor winning some events overall but not finishing others.
Both Open 4wd and R5/ Rally 2 are expensive categories, beyond the lower budget of the lower US rally field competitors.
What might be possible for lower field runners is an AAP - American Atlantic Pacific class (2 or 4wd) that uses USDM (US domestic market) cars, constructed with components such as the Estonian BMW rally parts etc. (though no more Mk2 Escorts with 3 litre V6 engines, though the Dytkos could run with some tweaks rather being banned.)
The cars/ bodyshells for AAP would have US vins/ identifications etc that the European built R5/rally 2, rally 3 etc are not likely to have. Focus areas like safety so US shops can put together quality roll cages into local shells etc.
A Citroën C3 Rally2 running in the USA in 2023!!! :D
