What about legendary Fafe area stages? Any info?
CRAZY VIDEO https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B865sknWdhw
1.33!!! crazy moment!!
All will be there :) Soon we will know the itinerary
Fafe stages will obviously be used (maybe twice), but if the scenery and the people's passion are the same, their behavior is totally different. Since the 90's there was a general improvement at the spectator's security levels, so there's no need to bring those videos back.
Instead, take a look at this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfRonH5tN7w
Hope to see you at Fafe in June!
Citroën and Hyundai will test at Algarve, measuring differences :) The weather also are better now there :)
Unfortunately is impossible to design a rally like old Rally of Portugal.
However, It will be an opportunity for to reborn some fantastic stages where has wrote a lot of pages of world rally championship history.

President of Municipality of Amarante said that his town will host 2 days of competition.
Ponte de Lima stages started some works of repairs.

A big shame that Luílhas will not used, and Fafe only have one stage :/
But the itinerary looks ok to a great show. Lousada will be awesome.
I will see:
Lousada
Ponte de Lima 1 and 2
Amarante 1 and 2
Fafe 1 and 2
I always said I wouldn't be keen to go back to Portugal, but I'm sure Fafe will be an incredible spectacle. Hmmmmmmmmm.....
A new video from Ponte de Lima (a few km):

Great road. I will be there :)
The surface is far better. Let's wait the drivers opinion "regional wars" aside ;)
+1 Francis
Especially spectator-wise the stage looks uninteresting and dangerous. There are almost no places where you can have a good view without putting yourself at risk... What will organizers do for spectators? Normally put them in some spectator-areas and keep them there, like in Algarve? The problem is that this stage doesn't give organizers the opportunity to make a nice spectator-area. I was in Portugal in 2013, drove several stages (shakedown, Mu, Santana da Serra, Loulé, Silves and Almodovar completely). They were nice, especially Santana da Serra is a very difficult stages for drivers. It's a shame that both marshalls and police treated spectators like shit...
tommeke_B you will come to watch Portugal 2015?
What a pity. Trust me, you will like this edition. People change a lot on this side of country. The roads are clean and repaired. Mitical places will be revisited. I like too the Algarve editions, but the WRC will don't lost nothing on this "back to origins". Hope next year you come and appreciate :)
Hope Lousada SSS will be live broadcasted, because will be one of the best SSS of last years. But now is too soon, time to MC action.

Hi everybody,
I'm a new member on this forum.
I will come from Lyon (France) to Portugal in may and I'm so looking forward to coming here :D
Rumours about some drivers do Rali Serras de Fafe to prepare WRC event. Martin Kangur almost won last season.
I remember the SWRT, maybe between 1998 and 2000, tried to do Fafe rally but always FIA had forbidden.
Also Amarante rally will use the stages of rally 2 week before the rally Portugal.

I visited Portugal in 2007 and remembered the police men and marshals to be a bit "stressed" ;)
Is this the same in the north?
2007 was the first year after the WRC exclusion period of the rally. There was an extra care towards spectator behavior. Last years on the south things get a little softer but there's an expectation that on this year return to the north organizers will again apply a zero tolerance crowd control.
I was in Portugal 2013 and strongly disagree, for spectators it's the worst event I've been to so far (worse than France-Alsace). Police and marshalls don't have respect for spectators at all, you have a few "boxes" where you are allowed and that's it. At least that was 2013.
Hmm well, I have to agree tommeke, 2007 Portugal actually was the worst rally I've ever visited.
I read somewhere that the north is a bit more relaxed so I already booked the flight...
Let's hope the best?
You can only be kidding!...
Your description called security and organization, which it's supposed to exist in a WRC event.
Or probably you prefer it that way:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grrM...ature=youtu.be.
In Portugal, the areas to the public were always large enough and with all conditions for the spectatores enjoy the rally.
"Few boxes"?!.... Unbelievable!...
Are you sure that you had been in Portugal to see the rally?!...
Portugal is a really bad rally, if you don't want to be in the spectator zones. Tom is right about that, we went there once and never be back probably.
