Rally guide to Barum Czech Rally Zlin published - http://www.barum.rally.cz
Roman Kresta confirmed his start with Fabia S2000 :)
He is doing only Barum and Kopná (as test). He is not returning, just wants some fun once per year at home event ;)
Great! After having seen 2 great events there(Barum '09 and '10), I'm coming back this year. Hopefully a nice S2000/R5 battle. I expect the Skoda's to be still unbeatable on the bumpy tarmac, but who knows... :)
Today were published supplementary regulations and timetable to Barum Czech Rally Zlin - www.barum.rally.cz
Anyone who is going and wants some help, let me know by PM. I will prepare something for You shortly before the rally.
So how many cars for Skoda on Barum and who?
Good chance to see Scandola again after a decent drive on Bohemia?
Scandola will drive Italian championship in that time I think. I guess only standard Lappi/Wiegand duo for factory team.
That's the recent rumor in CZ...
Anyway I think that this time we will see non-Škoda winner after five years.
I guess you mean Pech..
It's a tough choice for Skoda.. do you throw everything at it or do you back down and 'prepare for the future'
Still, I believe Lappi is capable of challenging. He's come on a lot since last year.
Pech is top-favorite yes, regarding his fast times (beating Kopecky) in Czech championship so far. But you never know what Abbring can do if his car proves reliable. He's been doing development-tests in France lately, on roads similar to Barum Rally, and claimed he did 900 kms without a single reliability issue... :)
They got a solution for the rear window, Plangii and Kruuda used differount mounts between spoiler and window, and it seems no window got cracked? And there were enough jumps to do that. :)
I doubt that, it were different mounts...

By the way, has DS3 R5s had any rear window problems? Mounting is similar to 208R5.
There were jumps in Otepää, but not as many as I expected. Bumpy Zlin roads might be harder. The proper gravel jump test will come in next week.
AFAIK Jakeš had no issues with the rear window of DS3 R5 and he already did three events in CZ.
The difficulties he mentioned were connected to default differential and suspension setup unsuitable for Czech roads.
I think Verschueren had one cracked rear window at Ypres..

Yes. And I think all 208's had at least one cracked rear window in Ypres too. Anyway Ypres is more brutal than you think for this, with some kicking jumps/bumps, and maybe even more important, the car touching the ground in deep cuts. Up to some 5-10 years ago there were plenty of issues with onboard cameras in cuts due to the forces. And regarding shock-absorbing of the rear window/wing, I think Barum could be an even bigger challenge than Finland... :)
It looks like Béreš will drive in historics with RX-7.
Béreš sen. Junior is still planning with Quattro Monster S1, but I will prefer to see him in regular race with Mini S2000, which he is using this year in slovakian championship.
According to the press-release from today crews starting in Czech championship may use old-spec. 15" tyres but won't be classified in ERC standings. That means we have for the first time since 2005 two competitive fields in Barum...
Jarek Z will be delighted. :)
We are not happy about that, but situation with tyres is really stupid. FIA made tyres which are ONLY for ERC. And Czech republic is only one which has it mandatory for big championship. If it will be only regular tyre for future, there is no problem. But as Michelin and Pirelli are still producing older type of tyres, this is completely nonsense... So all this is mainly about FIA...
Looks like the same thing we already had at Jänner rallye this year - and probably more intense next year ...
The same in Rally Madeira and it is not ERC but ERC cup, only portuguese drivers and they must used FIA tyres...completly stupid
People at FIA still things that they are doing things correctly. Because only me and some other czech people are telling them that it is mistake. But people from other countries/federations/organisers/drivers are silent...
New more modern style of website: http://www.czechrally.com/en/
Have I understood the autosport.cz article right, that Barum Rally can lose its ERC status in 2015 ? If this is correct, who has such a stupid idea. Barum rally is together with Ypres the best rally in ERC. It would be better to through out one or more of the rallies on the islands (but not Tour de Corse).
By the way, I think the article also says that Jänner Rallye is not part of the Czech championship 2015
Yes, You understand the article right. Eurosport wants more money for new agreement (2015+2016).
And yes, Jänner shall be out of Czech championship but that doesn't mean much because the number of Czech crews there will hardly change.
It would be a big mistake to lose Barum from ERC, but I trust they will come to an agreement.
Skoda wouldn't like to lose it for a start..
If we lose Barum to Bohemia, ok I can understand. But if we lose definitively a rally in Czech, that's really bad :(
I decided no to comment all the idiocy that has been happening in the ERC and rallysport in general in recent months/years. I noticed that whenever I say something logic against those idiotic ideas, people see it as complaining or whining. So I keep my mouth closed now, but I'm sure you all know what I think about dropping Barum from ERC :)
And now something more positive - one of the first received entries comes from Neil Simpson - http://www.czechrally.com/en/25773n-...er-barum-rally
Some good news regarding historics.
There will be new larger service park for historics directly at the city stage and rally HQ (even closer than it was till now). It's called Rally village. The number of crews was risen to 60. Organizers confirmed an entry of Paul Chieusse with Renault 5 Maxi Turbo and Albano Frassinetti with ex-Delecour Ford Escort RS Cosworth.
