Count Ghughi Zanon certainly helped fund Ronnie's career and was a "patron" for a number of other drivers as well. From the little I've read about him it seems he was a wealthy enthusiast who spend time around F1 and was one of the "good guys".
As for any connection with Riccardo, I'm not too sure. A few years ago someone mentioned Zanon may have helped with an engine, or engines but it was all very vague, and not something Riccardo recalled decades after the event. He did remember something about a watch though, but as a collector perhaps that sticks in his mind more readily.
