Very sad indeed. Thoughts are with their family and friends.
Very sad news david was a true gentleman
Sad day in Motorsport yet again an aviation incident :(
RIP.
What sad news indeed.
I can't believe this. I don't know what to say. This was a touring car racer I grew up with, when I first started to love the BTCC.
My condolences to both of their family and friends - this is awful news. :(
Lloyd was also a great BTCC driver. He was class champion three years in a row in the seventies, and won twelve races outright.
I'd seen the news about the plane crash but have just seen on Sky News that David Leslie was on board.
Very sad news :(
(This thread a candidate for the Chit Chat forum aswell?)
Very sad to read this news
Terrible news. David Leslie was a good driver and my condolences go to his and all the other families of the victims of the crash.
RIP David Leslie and Richard Lloyd and the others involved too.
Condolences to all of their family and friends.
successful both as a driver and team boss- he ran the Audi Sport UK A4s for of Biela and Bintcliffe in 1996/7Quote:

That is awful news.
Was really looking forward to following the Jags in FIA GT3 this year.
Both were excellent drivers in tourers and endurance racing and will be sadly missed.
Condolences to friends and family and affiliates of Apex motorsport.
:(
Awful news
Condolences to family and friends
I sat on the table next to David at Silverstone last Weekend and watched him win the Britcar Race as we were racing there too in Britcar.I cant believe this sad news,i am in total shock, how many more will we lose to air crash's? ;(
I've just got in and read it on the internet. I can't beleive it.
I've honestly got tears in my eyes.
RIP David & Richard
I can't really believe it, I was watching his win at Thruxton in 96 only 2 hours ago.
RIP David & Richard
Leslie was an excellent driver and I so remember him in the Ecosse Cavaliers
I didnt know of Lloyd
Condolences to all the familes involved
This is such a terrible shock. :( Like many others David Leslie was a driver I grew up following in the BTCC, I am genuinely very saddened, my condolences to the families of all the victims of this terrible accident.
im shaocked to hear that that is sad news for the world of motorsport leslie was a real gent and they were both a legands in touring cars. will be sadley missed my thoughts as with both familys
wow, not a good way to start a Monday morning :( . Another one of motorsports best taken away from us because of an aviation accident :s . I have fond memories of David's driving especially in the late 1990's and his commentating in more recent years.
I saw coverage of the plane crash on Sky News, but I had no idea at the time who was involved!
RIP.
My thoughts are with the families of all those involved, my thanks go to the emergency crews that assisted yesterday.
David you were a gentleman and always a pleasure to talk too. You'll be sadly missed.
Don't know the other guy who is also in motorsport (Richard Lloyd) but to hear that David is one of the fatalities I am just totaly devastated and shocked to the point of feeling really gutted and empty right now. :bigcry:
You will forever be in our memoried Dave!
RIP.
Very sad news indeed.
RIP both to David, Richard, the pilots and other person on board.
I heard about the crash last night on the radio at work but all that was said was that 5 people were killed with no names mentioned.
It was a bit of a shock to read this and find out it was the same tragic accident.
RIP David Leslie, Richard Lloyd, the brave pilots (who tried to recover the stricken plane) and the third passenger. :(
Another sad loss for Motorsport. :(
Obviously saw this on the news but had no idea David and Richard were involved. I always enjoyed David's WTCC commentary, not to mention his stern words on driving standards during his Proton days. Sad loss. I do hope ITV and Eurosport give him the fitting tribute he deserves at their next live BTCC and WTCC broadcasts.
Another sad loss for Motorsport.
David and Richard were 2 great personalities.
My condolences to all the familes involved.
What awful news ;( I remember Richard Lloyd from the days when he ran Jonathan Palmer in the Canon Porsche, and IIRC he also ran the Akai Audi that Stirling Moss raced many years ago.
David Leslie was of course a very talented and versitile racer who will perhaps best be remembered for his BTCC exploits.
My condolences to their families.
RIP
R.I.P David Leslie my thoughts are with all the familys of people involved in this tragic accident.
How terrible to lose yet another great (British) driver in an aviation accident.
Not following the BTCC too closely, I was not all that familiar with David's achievments as a driver (other than that his computer-likeness on "TOCA 2" was bloody difficult to beat ;) ), but I grew to appreciate his commentating for WTCC on Eurosport a lot - those broadcasts will never be the same for me without his participation :(
My condolences go out to the family and loved ones of all those on board the aircraft.
He was also Moss' team-mate for a time.Quote:

Shocking news, very sad. Another of the stars of the BTCC's golden age taken from us far too soon. :( And to lose another hugely influential motorsport figure in Richard Lloyd is equally tragic. RIP to all onboard and thoughts go out to the families of all onboard.
Yet again it is something outside of motor racing that takes a great man from the sport. Leslie joins a long list of British stars that died before their time. RIP.
.
Indeed. It is so sad to think that the two drivers who won at that wonderfully entertaining meeting at Silverstone in April 1998, Leslie and Will Hoy, are both no longer with us.Quote:

He will be missed.
And I hope there will be a minute's silence for the driver's killed in yesterday's crash at Rockingham on the 13th April.
Can't believe it David was the first BTCC driver that I met when he was driving for Honda at a British Motorshow. The WTCC coverage will not be the same again.
My thoughts are with their families and friends
RIP
David winning his final ever race, Saturday 22nd March 2008 at Silverstone. RIP
