For the ones who still don't know... sad news from Czech Republic and Slovakia. Two leading tyre manufacturers in this part of Europe, Barum and Matador, decided to stop sponsoring rallying. Both companies were very active in recent years, supporting top Czech and Slovakian drivers like Vaclav Pech, Jan Kopecky, Miroslav Jandik and biggest rally events in both countries, Barum Rally and Rallye Matador Tatry...

You are wrong, Jarek. Barum stopped sponsoring few years ago. With Barum rally he is continuing, but is giving lower amount of money... When was Barum "eaten" by Continental, all sponsorship to motorsport was stopped (except Barum rally) and - what is more important - producing of sporting tyres was stopped. The same situation is now with Matador... And Continental is giving money to football... :vader:

Update from The Netherlands:

Wevers Sport bought two ‘06 Focus WRCars for the upcoming season. The first car will arrive in March and will be driven by Erik Wevers himself. A second car will arrive one month later and René Kuipers, who currently drives a Subaru WRC S12, will be the driver of this car. Both drivers will compete in the brand new Euro Rally Challenge, containing two events in The Netherlands, two in Belgium and two in Germany. Other Dutch drivers which are named to drive in this Challenge are Mark van Eldik (Subaru WRC S12), Harry Kleinjan (Fabia WRC evo 2) John Temmink (who recently purchased a Fabia WRC evo 2) and Ger Haverkate (Octavia WRC evo 3).

VM Motorsport, probably best known for Peter van Merksteijn Senior’s World Rally Championship outings in a Focus RS WRC 06 last season, have announced the calendar for next season:

Uddeholm Swedish Rally (WRC)
Tank S Rally (The Netherlands)
Jordan Rally (WRC)
Rallye d’Italia Sardegna (WRC)
Neste Oil Rally Finland (WRC)
ADAC Rallye Deutschland (WRC)
Hellendoorn Rally (The Netherlands)
Rallye de Espana (WRC)
Rally Japan (WRC)
Conrad Euregio Rally ‘(The Netherlands)
Wales Rally GB (WRC)

Peter van Merksteijn Junior, Who took the Dutch Group N Championship in his first full rally season last year, will drive a Focus RS WRC 06. Last year he was co-driven by Belgian Eddy Chevaillier, upcoming co-driver for Francois Duval. Most likely Chevaillier will co-drive Van Merksteijn Junior in the events Duval won’t take part in. Van Merksteijn Senior is expected to do some of the events named above in a similar Focus.

Madeira Rally Championship:

It looks Vitor Sá has already decided. Next season he will drive a Peugeot 207 S2000 prepared as always by Barroso Sport.

With Ojeda and another driver for two 207s and let's hope Vinyes, Fuster, Sola, Puras, Vallejo, ...Polo S2000, Grande Punto S2000, Porsche GT, Mitsu/Subaru GrN,...the 2008 season of spanish tarmac championship would look very nice :bounce:
