It's got to be one of those small pacific nations. Maybe Tuvalu?Quote:

I don't know. I knew the answer cos back in my student years I had a colleague who was living there. Besides, I am very good with african capitals because Ceausescu was always visiting those countries and we were flooded with news and documentaries about his " missions of peace and friendship ". So Mogadiscio, Kinshasa, Ouagadougou, etc., had become quite familiar places. :laugh:Quote:

O.k. here's a quick 'n easy...
For what is the James Caird famous?
I reckon the James Caird must be a boat, otherwise why do you call it "the" James Caird. If it's a boat, I'm guessing it's a British merchant vessel, because the boat was named after a Scot, by the sound of the name. Now what could make a British merchant vessel famous? Hmmmm. It was the first ship to be powered by nuclear energy. Or it was the first to be captained by a woman. Or, if I'm allowed three guesses, it was the boat which gave rise to the myth of the Bermuda Triangle when it sank in that area, never to be seen again.
Well Gannex, you got the "boat" part right... :p :
Was it the first to successfully navigate the fabled Northwest Passage?
Nope. Nice try Breeze.
A famous boat. Is it some feature of the boat itself that makes it famous?Quote:

It was the name of the boat used by Shackleton after the Endurance sank in Antarctica.. There was a TV film about it a few years back. If I remember correctly it's still around.
The Scotsman gets it
It's the name of the 22ft lifeboat that Shackleton and his crew of five used to sail from Elephant Island to the tiny South Georgia Islands. A remarkable feat of navigation, 800 miles, considering all they had was a sextant and a compass.
Yay !! OK here's an easy Scottish one for you...
What's the name of the road that Terry Wogan's good friend (now deceased) Mrs Mackay keeps clear of snow every winter?
Its the Cotbridge to Tomental road, not sure if I spelt it right and I don't know the road number either.
Close enough... It's Cockbridge to Tomintoul... Next time I'll ask for the Gaelic translation :D
The UK has a worldwide reputation for drinking tea, and rightly so because we consume 2.3kgs of the stuff per person per year, but we are not the only tea drinkers in the world, in fact it's quite popular in many other countries too, although the UK is the No1. Please name the next five countries for tea consumption, per capita.
1. UK
2.
3.
4.
5.
6.
Yemen?
India?
Saudi Arabia?
Syria?
Iran?
2. China - green/herbal thingie?
3. Bhutan
4. Sri Lanka
5. India (although we might not be per capita since our huge population makes it difficult to have any significant per capita value :\ )
1. UK
2. India
3. Egypt
4. China
5. Iran
6. Syria
Caroline, not Daniel, having a guess....oops.
UK
China
Sri Lanka
India
Iran
Egypt

China
Poland
India
USA
Japan

USA scrape into the top 20, but only just at 16th place. The only country guessed correctly so far is Japan at No4. Don't forget that this is consumption per capita so countries such as India and China will not feature because of their population size.
Keep guessing.

Whilst you got Ireland correct, and in the correct place too I might add, I am somewhat surprised that, despite me telling you that New Zealand was No3 and Australia are No6 you still decided to put other countries in those places :\Quote:
