a nice tactic for vw would be to slow down Latvala more and decoy Sordo more slower than now.At same time Ogier at pushing 100% the difference of 45 sec could be much less to 20-25 sec lets say, at 66km stages(ss 7-8)
Sordo couldn t react with something like this.If he didn t follow Latvala at slow down,he would be 1st on the road= :skull:
The only small problem would be that Neuville will be close to leader again,but dont think that this could be a problem for Ogier with better road position.

I think it's meant to mean that every passing car makes (gravel covered) stage 0,1 s per km faster for the next car - assuming equal performance by driver & car.

Wind is expected to turn at around midnight (during the turning it is calm) but it looks like it will be 2-3 m/s by the start of the stage and much more for the second stage. However, there is pretty difficult topography. Some sections might experence more calm conditions.

I don't think Sordo will benefit of his "smart" tactics today. Even 1st on the road, Latvala will be much faster than him and he has to worry about Neuville and Ogier more tomorrow. But, we'll see.

The tactics of starting behind (apart from gravel sweeping) is to test their mettle. Some drivers are ok until the pressure starts to mount. And then they make silly mistakes.

I guess we have seen JML and many others fail in the past because of this.

There are disadvantages with this tactic as well. It means you are constantly looking at the splits yourself and getting distracted instead of driving to your own potential.

I wonder why they lay out the parts on the car's spot - they gotta remove those before car can come in? Just for inventory purposes?
