Me and Jari testing today. Did the pace notes in English for fun. Well, more in "rally English" for what we Finns are famous for. We also fixed the habit of saying the angle first and left/right after that :)

News from the shakedown says that no4 Jukka Ketomäki (PWRC 2011) had already big problems with his old Octavia WRC and was forced to retire already.
Mikkelsen before SD:

Photo by @RalliSM, they most propably update their Twitter account frequently this year.
Also, how many other rallying events have the following in their regulations:
At least they've seemed to dropped the knife to use for letting blood out of hit reindeers as a mandatory equipment...Quote:
All competitors must carry in their rally cars warm winter clothes, shoes, gloves and hat for both drivers to be used in case of retirement. Driver/co-driver must carry a switched on mobile phone in case of possible accidents. Number of this mobile must be given to the rally office before the start. Each car must also carry one snow shovel, first aid kit and two reflective triangles, which must be used to warn following competitors in case of a road blockage.
They forgot the firewood, matches and makkaraa. :)Quote:

Just arrived to Rovaniemi, beautiful full moon and kinda cold... :D
In deed nice weather and not sooo cold, only -15 C in the afternoon ;)
Here is some incar material from the Arctic Shakedown from Jaro´s brand new 208 R2: jarokinnunen.kuvat.fi
We will update news and multimedia material during the rally in the Jaro´s new website: Jaro Kinnunen - Mikael Korhonen, Peugeot 208 R2 - Ralliautoilun SM Sarja
I heard a rumour that there might be a live incar, but cannot find any links for that.. Anyone got more info?

Where is Mikkelsen?
Mikkelsen on SS1? Salo, Nikko AND Vihavainen already through.
I just noticed that it is -21 in Rovaniemi right now :-)
Mikkelsen narrowly fastest, not very good time
Apparently Mikkelsen not running first on the road then. Good that he's through.
Non-starters:
5.Jukka Ketomäki(M)/Kai Risberg(K) sm1 Skoda Octavia WRC
10.Kari Hämäläinen(M)/Risto Pietiläinen(K sm1 Ford Fiesta S2000
13.Jari Latvala(M)/Kari Mustalahti(K) sm1 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo
20.Oleksii Tamrazov/Pavlo Cherepin sm1 Ford Fiesta S2000
60.Petri Itkonen(M)/Janno Older(K) sm3 Citroen C2 R2
73.Maximilian Koch/Stefan Weigel sm1 Subaru Impreza WRX Sti
83.Juha Linna/Arto Jokela sc4 Ford Sierra RS Cosworth
102.Petri Söyring/Jani Laine sc10 Opel Kadett GTE
He is 1st on the road - after the course cars of course ;) It really seems to be very good position to drive, because there will big amount of ´snow dust´ floating in the air after cars and it won´t fade away cause wind speed is 0 m/s at the moment. Dust will cause major problems in the evening stages...Quote:

44th. After SS2 he's now fastest 2WD. Top three in SM3 is tight though, top 3 within 2 seconds.Quote:

Original SS1 times are not correct. Salo was apprx. 2 secs quicker than Mikkelsen. They have the correct time on card (and watch) but organizers have not corrected it during SS2, dunno have they done it now though. This from regroup/service. Bit chilly. :)
Inessa retired on SS2. Technical.
It's fixed now at least in Tenab. After SS2 Salo 3,8 seconds behind the Norwegian.Quote:

EDIT. Ruotsalainen retired due to the damage caused by it. Vilenius stopped for over 5 mins to repair damage. For Kolsi, it was completely across the road, they went over it, examining possible damage now in service.

What is with this whole Inessa thing, nor she drives good, nor she looks pretty, but all the media and this forum seems to fall on their knees because of her. And the constant team an codriver changes seems to point in just one direction - money, or more clearly lack of it.Quote:
