Guys,
Here's my preview for Rally Finland. There's a very obvious mistake in there which i apologise in advance for!!!

Good Preview.
Great work from Colin again, nice preview of Rally Finland. Can't wait to get it started. ;)

Nice job Colin...thanks
a bit embarrassing spinning in the recce and at low speed
Not embarrasing at all, that corner is a very very tricky one. Information from the forest tells that nearly all crews stopped after that corner to fine tune their notes.Quote:

Some more footage of Joonas Lindroos testing the VW Skoda, plus thoughts ahead of the rally:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_2rM9OgqOS0
(Team has said to him that the mileage done is more important than the result, but a Finn in Finland can´t drive like a wilslow so we´ll see)
Can You give a short summary of what he said?
About the rally, he said he didn´t really believe that VW would choose him for this test event, since there were "whole bunch of others waiting in line". And he says that the result of this rally has a big impact on what the future will look like for him, but then again the bosses from VW have underlined that he has to bring the car to the finish. And they also want him to progress during the rally, the stage times have to improve as the event goes on. But they don´t expect him to beat Hänninen or Tänak, so no such pressures on him.
Thanks. Now I'm going to pack. My plane leaves at 6 a.m. :)
Have a nice trip Mirek!
About weather, now it looks Thursday will be mostly dry, but Friday definitely some rain in the south. Thunderstorms are possible since temperature will stay around and above 25c during the days.
Interesting to look at the Pickems. Generally people seem to rate Ketomaa much lower than Rantanen. I'm expecting Ketomaa to fight for the podium. Even for the win if some top guys hit trouble. In my opinion there is no question that Ketomaa is faster than Rantanen with equal machinery. He is also the only top driver in WRC who knows the friday stages like his pockets.
Me too! Yes, he is faster and also Fiesta is better than Mini. Rantanen knows also the friday stages and his knowledge is better than Ketomaa´s, because he lives in Lammi region. It is time to beat top five drivers, but top three or close to podium is also enough to secure his future...Quote:

I personally think that Ketomaa is the best we have to offer for work teams  He is crazyfast !!!
I really don't know what to expect from Ketomaa. I know he is fast in Finland, but is he fast enough to challenge the Citroens? I don't know why, but I feel like he isn't (but I hope I'm wrong!)
Rantanen is fast in Finland too, he was pretty fast with the Focus last years, but now he drives a Mini so it's not easy to say how fast he will be.
Oh well, I can't wait for the start of the rally! :)
What about s2000 competitors? I d like to listen some predictions from our Fin mates.
I'm expecting a tough battle between Hänninen and Tänak. Lindroos most likely to take it pretty easy because of the "must get to the finish" orders. I'm expecting Brynildsen and Kruuda to provide "small surprises" when the rally progresses. Nothing big though.Quote:

Lindroos is fast and has fresh experience of these roads but after hearing too many times from different sources that he "must finish the rally" I'll thing he's going to take it quite easy in the beginning. My money on Hänninen, he seems to have "Loeb-like" speed reserve always available when needed which is a sign of a world class driver.
Juha Salo could provide a surprise with his Evo R4. There's not many guys in the world who match his speed with Evo. In Rally Estonia's fast roads we saw that Ketomaa was able to match Prokop's s2000 times with his R4 for the short amount of time it held together.
Nice Lindroos analysis Juha! ;)
I don't think Ford will let Ketomaa fight for a podium place, instead the Ford's are in the first 2 places. I hope so though. About Rantanen, I don't think his car is good enough to fight for top 6.Quote:

For WRC, I think it's so hard to predict. Ogier or JML to win, but Mikko, Loeb, Solberg all in the fight. Ketomaa is fast, but he has to finish the rally!
I had lengthy discussions about the rally and I realised I haven't said it in here.
This year Ogier will either win or crash.
So who is going to be faster,Hanninen or Tanak?
LOL, I forgot him totally. Clearly when talking about the rally for 3+ hours nonstop, I tend to forget some things. If he has received same orders as Lindroos, he'll be most probably take it easy. Should be somewhere around 2nd-4th in SWRC.Quote:

Hope you guys are excited! Wish I was in Finalnd, such a beautiful country and loved the atmosphere
you overestimate Ogier about his capabilities in Finland.
I sure as hell expect Ketomaa to record some top 3 stage times, even fastest times, in this rally. He has to make some kind of mark in this rally and that can only happen by humiliating the factory duo in some stages - even if the rally end upside down in the woods. If Rantanen gets top 3 times that would be totally bonkers, even if he knew friday´s stages better.Quote:

I think Ketomaa (even more so if it's dry), will be in top3 after thursday stages, but unfortunately he will be the "Solberg of Ford" and drop down friday-saturday...
