Rally Portugal this year. And what's your massive objection to alcohol?
I don't have a massive objection to alcohol. I do drink sometimes, to the shock of my friends. But the point is, I think it's more harmful than tobacco, so if people are getting all self-righteous about tobacco advertising, it's hypocritical not to do the same for alcohol.
So who is sponsoring Rally Portugal? Vodafone? Or have I massively misunderstood?
Yep Vodafone are sponsoring rally portugal this year. Good to see companies like that in rallying.
Honestly, I don't understand why you don't like if alchohol or pharmaceutical companies act as sponsors for rally teams! They just advertise their goods, they bring money to the sport! But nobody makes you buy their products! It's all down to your decision! A clever person will never use drugs, no matter how much AD he watch. But an idiot will try it, even if there's no AD around him at all! C'mon, people, it's silly! I would welcome any company, which would like to sponsor WRC, whatever it produces. They just show themselves, but it's only your choice if you are loyal to those companies. I repeat, no one will make you use what you're not interested in, so why not let them advertise it??
But does a hairloss company or something like Viagra promote a positive image for the WRC?
And I'm against banning tobacco advetising. It's idiotism. If a person wants to smoke, they will buy it, no matter whether he saw ad or not! And if parents are clever, they can explain to a child too, that smoking is bad, so that a child would know the trruth whatever is said in AD. let advertise everething. A smart person will make the right decision anyway, while an idiot will make a mistake even without advertising!
Hairloss company help people, Viagra help people too. What's the problem. If a person needs it, he will buy it. I dont understand you, what's the problem? Those are just words on car livery, and their logos can make the car look great. I thought no one was aginst martini on Fords or Lancia. So why not Viagra? By the way, as for the image, this medicine gives power to a man, so as for slogan on a rally car, you can easily say "we boost the team!". Why not?Quote:

The problem is when someone sees an ad for some medication and then goes to their doctor to demand it, because they don't understand anything about it. Their doctor won't give it to them because it's harmful in some way, but they just demand it because the ad promised a miracle. That's the other problem - peole see ads for weightloss remedy and think they can continue their sedentary and unhealthy lifestlye because they think the drug is a miracle cure.Quote:

Definitely not. They imply greedy multinationals and middle-aged, pathetic men. It would just be embarrassing to be a fan when it had sponsors like that.Quote:

Viagra: We help old men who can't get erections naturally to get them artificially. No, I wouldn't want that image on my team.Quote:

If we are to think morally about it, why not ban Vodafone as because of them teenagers might end up having huge mobile phone bills to pay. Would that do good for the WRC's image? I think not. But you can't think that way, if you did you might aswell ban everything.
