True. How times have changed in just a few short decades.. what has happened in the culture since the 70s and 80s when there were endless battalions of good Swedish drivers constantly coming up and capable of decent WRC results?
Stackars svenskarna vad har hänt?

Well, I guess it´s about Money, that is needed to fund your rallying. In many other countries motorsport and rallying is something cool. But in sweden for decades rallying has been something you need to have gloves to touch, according to media. That doesn´t bring any money for the good drivers to make them even better and internationally competative.
The Swedish motorsport association haven´t done much more to help the process. So rallying has suffered to other sports like horse racing and sailing (you know "Volvo Ocean Race") and golf.
So we have a bunch of very good drivers but no Money. That´s the reason.
However, you should see Ramona and the other boys in the WRC-class in swedis rallies. They are not World top drivers but still very fast and Ramonas result was nothing else than good and fast tactical driving...
Re: Swedish rallying championship news
I agree with Per's latest post. Its not only Rallying but motorsport in general that are considered as something
"unwanted". Its "unglamorous" compared to football, icehockey and many other sports. Media gives it very little attention,
unless of course there has been an accident, coz then there suddenly are big headlines about it. Trying to bring motorsport into disrepute.
Re: Swedish rallying championship news
The Swedish rally championship have got a new co-ordinator

Re: Swedish rallying championship news
Sweedish Championship Winter sprint rally will be broadcasted live by Svtplay at January 18th.
Qualification is between 10.30 and 12.30 and finals is between 13.30 and 14.30.
The event that is an annual event is a part of "SM-veckan" where allot of Swedish winter sports
have their annual Swedish championships at the same place.
Re: Swedish rallying championship news
Thomas Rådström will make comeback in SM-Sprint 18/1.
Not so much info yet, but he have entered in WRC-class in a Citroen.
Interesting news, also because Rådström is responsible for Citroen pre-tests before Rally Sweden
(Or maybe Petter Solbergs Citroen XSARA WRC, was some rumours a couple weeks ago that Petter also should drive both the SM-sprint Rally in WRC and Rallycross-Spint in DS3 RX-car)
Re: Swedish rallying championship news
Petter Solberg have also entered SM-Sprint !
Both him and Rådström will drive Citroen WRC-cars =)
Re: Swedish rallying championship news
Re: Swedish rallying championship news
