Negative is that it could well cost him a chance in the Hyundai shoot out. We can't get inside the mind of someone watching successive cars hit a rock and continuing just to watch. Spectators aren't marshalls and have no brief on removing naturally occurring hazards from the course. Indeed in some countries (Spain comes to mind) the marshalls agresssively react to spectators being on the course, regardless of the motivation. Now can we just keep the debate civilised or as an informed spectator with the ability to act I shall start removing unwanted items from this thread ;)
On a different topic - If my analysis of Meeke's brief from Matton is correct, don't expect any team orders to stay behind Mikko, this is all about desire and fight. Dani has already failed the test
As much as I like Meeke and want him to do well to prove he deserves a drive I'm still kind of uneasy about giving drivers time back when bad luck strikes. As unfair as it is his situation was not uncommon.
Okay, time to turn rally radio on as I turn in for the night.
Giving time back to Meeke did not change any positions and likely will have small, if any, effect on overall competitive driving. So time reimbursement is only fair gesture with no sporting consequencesQuote:
