Vodafone Rally de Portugal 2012

The Finn crashed his Fiesta RS WRC off the road close to the end of the opening stage this morning. It had been hoped that the Finn might get the car back on the road, but the police in the stage are not allowing spectators to help.

A Ford spokesman said: "Jari-Matti reported that he hit a rock in a corner, which threw him off the road. The car is at 45 degrees in a ditch and it's not going to be possible to get it back on the road. We don't know what the damage is to the suspension, or the rest of the car."

In the old days the problem was spectators´grazyness,now I think the organizers have chosen roads which are too risky for wet conditions.

By the way, do you still remember the 1000 Lakes 1973? You were co-driving Bob Hourihan, but unfortunately you retired. I was then the executive manager of the event.

Maybe it would be possible with so many people but in Portugal they don't let You help anyhow. Very strict marshals and police as I heard...

They are not too risky the drivers need to adapt, this is a massive part of rallying!

Until the road driveable with normal rally car the question just to adapt the speed to the grip. It's still the case I think.

Ostberg loosing too much...
