According autosport.pt, Bergkvist could debut Opel Corsa R5 at Valais.
You mean the car which nobody has ever seen?
Yes :) i don't believe on that.
Any place, any time, one man behind tree with a phone could record a test. No photos/videos....
It will be interested though what R5 car he will use on Valais..

Really weird...they're saying Bergkvist will be at Valais with the Corsa but don't say how (as 0 car? presenting a mock up model? testing after the rally?). At the same time it's said the Corsa R5 will be homologated in early 2016.
Autosport.pt got a trusty info about Hyundai's R5 project...it'd be great to see this one also coming true!
What do you mean guys? Are there more photos of a UFO than Opel Corsa R5? ;)

Testing mule with old S2000 chassis (the car must still exist) and 1,6T engine is possible...but as you all already mentioned it has to be the very beginning of the whole process. And homologation in the early 2016 is definitelly not possible.
Hyundai R5 is much more real, but also in the beginning of whole process. But the process will be faster, because they can borrow few things from bigger sister i20 WRC. When can we expect the homologation of Hyundai R5?
Do You have some information supporting that claim? I haven't heard anything. Just asking...
Hyundai R5 was a kind of public secret for more than a year before it was announced but if I remember since June (Ypres rally) it has existed even officially (confirmed by Alain Penasse).
It was confirmed in May during the Rally of Portugal by Michel Nadan in person:

A nice video from South Swedish Rally, with some Mirage R5 action.

Don't know if this is already mentioned on another thread here, but I just read that the Corsa R5 will make its debut at Valais, can anybody confirm this (my French is terrible):

If true great news.
Those are quite poor quality renders, nothing more. And google translated french says nothing more than rumors.
I don't really believe they could manage to keep R5 development in such secrecy that there is no spy photos and no info about testing and so on.
So, now it looks more like publicity stunt. If there will be actual car I will be very surprised.
there is no Opel R5, project was postponed. no such car in Valais for sure
Not sure if has already benn posted in english translation:

btw. Hyundai R5 project also postponed as they are behind the schedule with their new WRC car development.
I never saw Nadan saying that the car would be ready only in 2017. I heard form Nadan himself in May that the project was running and the car would be ready in the beggining of 2016.
And one of the main work to be done was to build all the structure to costumers support.
In my opinion R5 from Hyundai not earlier than mid 2016, but more likely in 2017...
Also never heard news from Proton. I think it was PG Andersson to talk about a development for a R5 car and then Oliver Mellors was on the Coppermines Grizedale Stages Rally in November 2014, on Proton Satria with a turbo-charged Renault engine.
At Rally Argentina in April he said it will be avaliable in 2017, in July it was said that it could be possible already in mid-2016 ;).
Probably due to the net echos, Opel Motorsport has denied the autosport.pt scoop and reinforce that the R5 program was postponed. Still, autosport.pt claims their sources revealed that the R5 Corsa project is moving!

So, with Hyundai busy rallying their new WRC car (and developing the 2017 version) and Opel deferring their Corsa project, it seems that there won't be any new R5 car in 2016 (just the Joker Fiesta). Unless Mitsu gives a yes to the swedish Mirage!
Hyundai R5 car will start in 2016. Development of Opel R5 is still in progress, but will not start so early (end of this year).
I think Chris Ingram will be entering WRC Wales Rally GB in a Peugeot 208 T16 R5. On the entry list for the Cambrian Rally (using it as a pre WRC Wales test) he is entered in a Peugeot 208 under the "B14" class so it must be an R5 car.bSo I'm assuming that he will be entered by Peugeot UK or Academy, and maybe WRC 2/ERC campaign next year?
