Elfyn out. Mechanical problem on SS3 :(
Time to change to Skoda? :-D
SS3 Breen blitzes the rest 24s up on Kajto !
Evans - Overheated engine after losing a belt...
Simpson crashed.
Evans out, so Breen leads the rally after SS3.
Della Casa and Simpson crashed on this stage.
Rokland crashed - out
Was Evans having road advantage in the morning or not? If not then very impressive. Awesome time for Breen, I doubt Evans would have beaten it
Starting first on an asphalt rally is an advantage nearly every time. Anyway it's pity he's out because it would be interesting to see if his tyre management works through the whole rally (he used more tyres on FP/QS than others).
Judging from Breen's comment he knows this stage very well:
Breen after SS3 - "You can't put it into words, that is the best bit of tarmac in the world! Just incredible feeling! This is really what Irish rally is about. We are now on the roads that we grow up on!"
What a shame Evans is out!
As Breen said, he grew up on these roads, but still a mega time.
Real shame for the event to lose BRC and ITC leaders Evans & Cronin so early... makes it a WRC-ERC battle for the win already.
Great clip of Breen 'on it' !

Breen grew up about 250 miles from SS3, he may have grew up with a familiarity with this type of road but I really don't think he would have any great knowledge or familiarity with this individual stage, he would have needed to make notes and drive to them like the rest of the field. His performance over the stage was stunning, and was not because he was driving down his local stage.
This 'live coverage' is all very well but it must be the only sport in the world where this only means "people live talking about an event and interviewing those that have just finished doing it", rather than any actual action... :(
Rain for the afternoon...

Gryazin 6,3 slower from Griebel overall. Lets see this nice fight. Tannert and Ingram close too.
SS4 - Breen slower on the splits
BUT wins the stage !
Is this the concept WRC should wear as well? I mean media.
Maybe Breen's 6th COI but:
Not all previous editions have been mechanically trouble-free
Not all previous editions have been in a ERC class 1 car
Now does anyone else want to find a reason to diminish what seems to me to be a damn fine drive or does anyone think the mud miraculously disappears from the road as he approaches.
It's a hard thing to take when ingrained preconceptions are overthrown, though I'm still waiting for a 208 to look durable!!
Very close times on ss4!
Thorburn having all kinds of problems with the 208T16... no surprise there. :(
Ingram disappointing once again. OK, he can still win this one but he should destroy the opposition if he wants to be the next big Brit.
Overrated...
Nice clip of Woodside & showing the weather

SS5 Fisher beats Kajto !
Breen 9s up.. :)
SS5 McCormack 2nd fastest !
According to his interview at the end of SS4 he's under strict orders to get to the finish of this rally, so was being careful.
Btw, for anyone not watching they've got two cameras at the end of SS5 live now on the video stream. Personally I've been quite impressed with what they've put together, it's certainly an improvement on rally radio!
On Ingram again, at the end of SS5 he's said that he is by his own admission nowhere near the limit of the car, which is very good (the car that is). He says he just needs to get more experience in the car to be able to get more out of it.
On the coverage, I think Seb Marshall did a good job in difficult conditions. Seemingly it's his first media job, so well done to him. Good way for him to pass the time until the Hyundai R5 is ready!
Tarabus very good this afternoon!
