Nice video! It's actually one of the first times I have heard Mikko speaking in his native tongue. Love how approachable all the guys are when it comes to the fans coming out for a look.
One of the reasons rallying is the best motorsport in the world!
Paviljonki webcam should be live on Saturday. We'll see, literally.
Jouni Ampuja in Impreza WRC is rumoured to be another DNS.

Someone?
Those of you who are now desperately thinking whether to pack long underwear, winter jackets and those woolly socks grandma made you last christmas, think again. Weather forecasts are forecasts, and they get more accurate closer to the event, but by now it is forecasted 31-33 celcius degrees and half cloudy around Jyväskylä region until Thursday. That should suit well.

Too hot in my opinion... One longer walking liason and you're exhausted. :D Lot's of water going to be needed.Quote:

But there is also very effective new product by same company called "Autan" ("I will help you"). You have to spray it to your skin and then use your hand and cover the whole body like you do with sunblock. It is very, very effective. 4 hours for biting bugs and 8 hours for mosquitos. It costs twice as much as OFF but is also two times more effective. Enjoy! By the way, mosquitos are not that big problem right now. Those biting bugs (parmat in finnish) are much worse :-(Quote:

Am liking the look of the weather forecast, hope the rain stays away :D

I'm leaving tonight, can;t wait to get there and see the boys fly through the forest.
Here is my dream podium..
1. Petter
2. Latvala
3. Ogier
Pretty slim chance, but its going to be a big fight out there!! Everyone enjoy the rally :D

Kiitos :)
I would imagine they close shakedown road at midnight on wednesday night/thursday morning also?
No worries. There were a lot of little flying *******s in middle Finland in June, but when I was there this weekend, basically none. And if the sun shines, like it's predicted in the forecast there's basically no mosquitoes at all.Quote:

The "sticks to animals" isn't as bad, but still annoying.

They shouldn't yet be a problem
Weather should get worse by Friday and Saturday, is now forecasted. It'll stay warm, well above 20 degrees, but rain showers should come.
I'm curious about what people expect from Ogier?
Last year on his first outing in a WRC he started slow, then got a bit faster and barely lost to Rantanen to claim 6th - so still not really fast. 4 minutes behind Sordo in 4th to be more exact.
This year he's much faster on other rallies. Most probably also due to car since last years "client" C4 seemed much slower than factory one.
Anyway I read some people think he'll fight with Loeb for the win? To me that sounds a bit too optimistic, though if Fords lack of pace isn't compensated by drivers here it might not be that far from truth. Still my bet would be he'd end 4th at best if nobody crashed/punctures etc.
EDIT:
Also note how seemingly little Loeb improved in Finland from 2003 to 2004. In 2003 he was 5th 2:48 behind, in 2004 (where only PS was faster than him on gravel trough the year) he was 4th 2:20 behind.
Official Programme says: Shakedown road is closed 29.7 (thursday) 8.00 - 12.00Quote:

And as far as the customer cars of citroen Ogier has a different opinion...
Loeb will not win because he doesn't have to....he will fight for 1 day and if things are optimal he will win...but there is no way he will go to war with mikko/latvala as in previous years.
Ogier will be lucky if he finishes the event...i see a crash for him if he goes for the win if he settles for 5th and lower the he has a chance to drive for 3 days.
I don't know is it wrong in the official programme, but that's how it says there.Quote:

Actually difference at the end of the rally had something to say in 2003-2004 Finland, when at the end of the rally the differences between places were rather small.
Notably in 2004 Loeb was 4th just 13 seconds ahead of 5th place Tuohino.
But off course, you just follow your standard procedure:
a) read post
b) find the easiest way to flame it without actually checking the facts (note that one of these flames has to include flaming an extra driver/manager/team/nation)
c) quickly post
=> 1/2 of a post is out of topic flaming. 1/2 (at best) something that adds to discussion. Seems like I'm following same scheme with this post... ohh well
the usual reply i get these days....to judge someones progress from overall difference is stupid for some simple facts
1. who was the winner
2. did the winner fight for the win for all 3 days of he was just cruising?
3. did the person who his progress we are looking at was in a fight the whole rally ? or he secured his place early and cruised through the rest of the event after 2-3 stages?
4. was car the same evolution as last year ? was the winners car evolution the same as last years winner...
5. where the stages the same? did the drivers had previous experience on these stages (both the winner and the driver we are looking at)...where the conditions the same (rain ects)
also starting potions, goals of the drivers that year, problems with the car ects....
have you thought these things through before posting that the overal difference tells for someones progress ?
and some other things....
I don't think that Ogier has a chance of winning this one, he still needs a bit more experience. Loeb will not take any risks to win as he doesn't need to, whereas Mikko not only needs to win but needs Loeb not to make it to the end. I suppose it depends if Ford can cut the speed gap to that from Bulgaria.... Mikko may have to take some risks. Maybe Latvala will be told to go for it...
maybe not win, but the podium he should reach without bigger problems.Quote:

The way you talk about which driver will fight to the end etz. make me wonder if not it would be Petter S who´ll win this event.
He doesn´t have to think of or about anyone, anything. Just pure PR.
And for him that´s enough for motivate him winning the whole rally.... :s mokin:
I will probably be eating humble pie on Saturday night, but I reckon Ogier will win it. 1. Ogier, 2 Loeb, 3 Petter, I'm not bothering with official pickem or things like that but that's how I think it will end.Quote:
