Ben...now you sound like an Elitist. Listen, I like you want our leaders to be smarter than the average bear, but the problem is some really smart people have driven the collective world into a ditch of late. Common men/women have gone on to be great leaders. Whatever you might think of Margaret Thatcher ( probably not good ), she was a pretty effective leader and much of what she did has helped the UK, whether you want to admit that or not. Just like Tony Blair has done. Both had the common touch and both were able to get elected. US politics is littered with people who had the common touch and were able to use plain speech to be elected. It is the reason Bill Clinton was so electable, and it is why a supposed dunce like Dubya was able to be elected against such "Brilliant" men as Gore and Kerry. coming off as a conceited elitist is a death wish in most political realms.Quote:

For what Obama is to the elitists in the US, he still was able to come across as a guy the average American could relate to. I think it was all whitewash, but I admire his way of using media ( a friendly media to be sure ) and his ability to dumb down and use his language.
Palin has the dumbing down of big ideas, we just don't always think she grasps the big concepts. That said, I will say it again until it hurts, that she isn't as dumb as her detractors made her out to be. If she was, she never would have gotten to that post in the first place. It is said the political landscape of Alaska is littered with the people from both parties that underestimated this woman.
