It isn't a particularly clear explanation.
All he says is that had a better feel with the Pirellis. It would be good to know what the difference is. Is it slip angles, sidewall stiffness or breakaway characteristics and why does it look as though the other drivers been able to adapt better?
But this is not strange. Pirelli and Michelin have 30-40 years experience and date to put into their tyres, Hankook started more or less with a clean sheet.
So far I have been impressed with Hankook, and it will take some time with datagathering before they are up there with the rallytyre royalty!
Interesting. Aava said basically the opposite when commentating on Sunday. That the drivers feel the limit of the Hankook tyre better and it’s more forgiving (more predictable) thus also not so much crashes on rally Estonia and Finland.
But it was just his theory. He hasn’t driven the tire himself
In my opinion Hankook has done really really well in their first season.
I still remember how mad this forum was with Pirelli at their first year and until the end actually
Hyundai’s spate of punctures that derailed its podium chances on Rally Finland could be caused by the team itself, its technical director François-Xavier Demaison has admitted:
