He continued: “You basically have no turbo so it’s like an R2 car. You have no boost so it opens the valve and all the air comes out and you loose all the turbo boost. You can change it but you’ve only got a choice of two [from an official FIA supplier as part of the R5 regulations]. We’ve tried them both and they’re both doing the same thing pretty much. We’re trying to play around with the map to reduce the target boost so it doesn’t open the pop-off valve but that means you’re decreasing the power of the car. We’re winding it back and winding it back. The guys are doing the best they can but it’s down to the ambient temperature and it looks like we’re going to lose a lot of power.”
