Does he really have to go to Japan to sign the deal though
there is this voting going on at wrc.com in different categories, just look what photos they have chosen to put up in the photo of the year category http://www.wrc.com/en/wrc/news/novem...8--12-12-.html
LMAO!
Hint:
Start with "Jari-matti latva"
Finish with "a"
Yeah I know it's a difficult one.
No really new information today in Motorsport News to move the VW/driver story on. At best everyone is just guessing and it's clear there's not really anything the drivers can say until after Australia. It does seem that it perhaps wasn't written crystal clear in the contract of Ogier etc what they do in a situation like this. So it seems that has taken some time to work through.
Both Veiby (Mikkelsen) and Jouhki (Latvala) saying they are confident something will be sorted - are speaking to multiple teams etc. Still says Citroen are looking to see what they can do to snare Ogier, and also looking to Abu Dhabi for potential funding.
AS report VW might just make available the 2016 Polo R WRC to privateers as there is no chance it'll be able to compete against 2017 cars...
I say get Ogier in the 2016 car and he would! Hah
Time to Baumschlager and Nasser bought one
That part about renting Polo '16 for privateers is quite interesting. Curious who would go for it. Thought, they will shut the door for privateers.
Besides Nasser maybe Mikkelsen if there is no vacancy for him? Or some youngsters from WRC2

This is my guess (We should open a pickems for this :P)
""Nothing is really clear regarding the termination of the contract with Volkswagen, but we are talking to several teams about next year and I am confident we will see Andreas with a top team," he said."
And which team it could be?
Citroen? no.
Ford/M-sport? no... full with Ogier/Tanak/Camilli
Hyundai? no
Only chance to Toyota with Latvala and Juho, but will Tommy need him? And Toyota not a "top team".
So I asked Jim Holland, Vice President, Vehicle Component and Systems Engineering at ASME IMECE today if ford is re joining WRC next year properly and he said yes.
More than likely he was talking bull$@&t or miss heard me but yeah he should know I guess and seemed confident...
Well,IF Ford returns,I expect announcements to be made during the new Fiesta presentation at Cologne,November 29.Possibly there will be a double announcement with a certain Frenchman being present...
People might need to sport referring to Ogier/M-Sport like it's a done deal.
The man himself wants to test both cars before deciding - http://www.autosport.com/news/report...ions-next-week
Looks like he's using the press conference to put a bit of pressure onto VW to cut him loose. I also don't think any other driver but Ogier is able to demand tests in multiple cars like this.
and
VW Polo (2016)
-Teemu Suninen
-Nasser Al-Attiyah
-maybe others also
As they say in WRC.com "who orders cars first, gets car first", they don´t care are you fast driver, first ones with money get cars!
http://www.wrc.com/en/wrc/news/novem...0--12-12-.html
Really hope we get to see a healthy selection of 2016 cars next year. Even against the 2017 crop they will still look spectacular in the right hands.
Ogier on options: http://www.wrc.com/en/wrc/news/novem...1--12-12-.html
To be honest, it might be even more exciting, if he'd opt for N.O.T's favourite flop team in Finland.
Pressure of Ogier in VW to release faster. Malcolm will don't lose this:)
There's a saying in the UK "speculate to accumulate". Meaning you have to take a bit of a risk to potentially make a big gain.
Malcolm has put his cards on the table that's he's prepared to do that. It's a calculated risk. Depends how badly Citroen want Ogier I guess.
i can understand Msport's urge to draft Ogier and by extension thier desire to allow him to test the car before hand. However, i'm not sure if Citroen would then allow him to test the C3 without signing a contract first after testing the Ford 2017. In WRC it seem Ogier has two real choices -- Citroen or Msport (less obvious choice is Toyota), so these two teams do have some bargaining power and do not necessarily need to let Ogier hold all the cards. Granted he's WRC champion, but not every team may bend the rules the same way to get him. If Citroen believe they have the best car out here, then the meeke/breen/lefebvre combination may be able to do a competitive job against Ogier/tanak/camilli combination in ford.
it will be a new year with new cars, nothing is guaranteed as yet. We will have to wait and see if any of the new cars are built like a 2016 VW wrc tank to start with, as that was part of VW's advantage over the last few seasons
