Acording portuguese autosport, the Hyundai broke today one gearbox and two transmissions
Now comes the time when the i20 will show its real reliability... Hope itīs one off.
Braking things in tests is nothing extraordinary. It's wise to use stuff for as long as it brakes in testing to see the real durability. What I mean is that while in the real event they can change gearbox let's say mid-rally to be sure, in test they can do 4-5x more millage till it falls apart just to see how much it can do.
Yes, for sure. Youīre right. Of course they do that kind of measures in one way or another to really know their cars durability.

So they still do fatigue tests?
Hmmm, front wheel. Just like in Sweden for both cars. Let's not forget this year was rushed for Hyundai, next year's car is the important one.
If Portugese rocks will do that, imagine what the Mexican ones will do!! Actually with all this durability testing I wonder if Hyundai have managed to get their engine tuning for altitude running sorted? I wouldn't be surprised if that proves to be the problem that many were predicting for VW last year
at this photo is clearly visible the broken front armQuote:

VW have probably enough equipment to develop the engine for Mexico altitude in the lab. AUDI had done such development for Pikes Peak '86/'87. I guess though Hyunday will find out the "hard way".Quote:

I recall it was reported last year that VW had built a test bed in an atmospheric chamber. The contrast between VW and Hyundai is already marked after 2 rallies. No pressure then on Neuville!
There was some discussion in Sweden thread about Hyunday's suspension strentgh. Such a rock can be on the driving line at ease, just like for Latvala last year in Mexico.Quote:

Pan left for Clint Eastwood in a poncho, chewing a cigar, surveying the scene while Morricone's music plays. I'll leave it to others to decide who is Good, Bad or Ugly!Quote:

I thought I would post this here for the people who don't venture into the ERC forum; this week Jan Kopecky has been testing the Fabia R5 (disguised as Fabia S2000) on asphalt in the Czech Republic. Looking good with a long way to go until homologation still - I hope it keeps the cool turbo sounds!
