I think the main reason actually is that Evgeni chose to take no spare tires at all, so he couldn`t change to better ones between the stages..

He had one spare as written in the steward decision (5 soft tyres). I think that You can't leave service park without spare wheel, can You?

OK, that`s true, he must have had only 1 spare than. But apparently should have had 2.. ;)
