Embankments need to be higher than one meter to make them safe. Things happens on straights also, especially in a rally where grip levels are inconsistent and the asphalt bumpy.

I don't like how Portugal sorted it out. I think that if organizers tell you to move you should move. End of discussion. If you are in bad place they cancel the stage and it's all your fault. Sometimes organizers can be too strict? Yes but I don't think this is the Mouton case. I've been in Monte twice and she has always been flexible and used common sense. Something that spectators in bad places should do as well.
It is absolutely stupid to be seated while watching rally. Especially sitting on the bank, it's just suicidal. You should always expect the unexpected and be prepared to escape. But then again, I wouldn't go on a one metre bank on the outside of a fast corner even standing up.
It will likely happen again, and again....
Too many fans trying to spectate in the same stage. Why not try running more stages and/ or over a greater geographical area...
Some of the comments here are just plain stupid. was she supposed to stop there to make them move and delay the stage?
Fact is some spectators are just ignorant and they do not listen, she did the right thing. If some one was killed or injured you all would get on about how the sport is not safe and Michelle did not do her job.
