You didn't understand...
The supersoft tyre has better compound for wet than winter tyre BUT it has very bad pattern - too little and too shallow grooves so that it works well on dry. Different pattern for dry and wet tyre is not allowed.
The winter tyre has worse compound (it must keep studs inside so it can not be too soft - my guessing) BUT it has large and deep grooves in the pattern which help significantly with standing water and increase traction on mud.
Remember they used winter tyres for wet already in Ireland 2009? ;) It's nothing new with recent regulations.

Well, as I said earlier, it's a gambler's driver time.
Manufacture's drivers are just playing save for now. Just my guess.
