We managed 4 stages today and all showed some nice driving action. Today it've been clear that at least Latvala is disarmed. Only good thing is that there are plenty of kilometres left still, but his voice at stage-end interviews have reached another octave stage by stage. And that means he can't help it. Loeb's pre-rally talks of not taking risks and all was once again just talk, psychological war, first scratch. On SS Mökkiperä 2 we were at well-known downhill left-right with a round stone on the inside. Loeb had most hunger there and perhaps cut the most. In the big SS Palsankylä jump he did some 30-40 metres, I think only Tänak jumped longer. On the said jump, both Latvala and Solberg had unrest with the car on landing which could tell there's some things to change at Ford. But that was only one - and very big - jump. On Urria's Mikko's jump there wasn't so big difference for top drivers, I think. For last today we ended up Lankamaa 2 some 700 metres before finish. Not really a planned spot, because we changed in three times while driving - it was almost a close-call. That was just nice passage of downhill left, but still the difference between Loeb and Latvala was clear. Hirvonen however could still have an ace in his sleeve - if not for team orders... Then again, Loeb could have two.
Lindroos have been keeping a great pace at 2WD, though on Lankamaa 2 it sounded his car wasn't at its best. Hopefully I'm wrong. Don't know exactly what happened at the end of Lankamaa 2, but last handful of cars drove through the stage (semi) road speed. I was told a car had caught fire near start of the stage but nothing more serious.
Shame for Neuville. For a first timer he kept great pace, especially considering the gap never really grew that big - for a first timer. And must admit Block has surprised me as well. He's always giving a bit of show, but still after all the expectations and talk, this could be most mature act from the eternal child.
Few more hours of sleep next and then ready for last set of stages.
