More accurately, it was cause by the driver expecting that the road would ALWAYS be clean, and not leaving any reserve for the (pretty damn obvious) chance that they might be dirt and dirt at any second.Quote:

He chose to ignore the obvious---that there CAN be dirt from ditches or embankment. Or a cow leaving a big present..
It's the same result but the driver wasn't just along for the ride---well untill he drove into the dirt anyway.
