He is 10 seconds behind WRC vice-champion. That's not bad IMO. Plus as Dimitris pointed out they desperately need to collect data. After the Monte disaster they can not afford to have both cars early out like last time. If they are serious they must have ordered their drivers to drive for finish. For speed reference they don't need to push whole rally, some stages or even selected splits are telling too.

Short summary of todays event from my view.
I was at Finnskogen 1 and 2 approx 1.5 km from the finish. Really good attack from Mikkelsen and Tänak. Ogier looks like he is cruising but it is very fast. No dramas except for Gröndal during first loop. I a medium right hander he understeerd and were completly off the road with all four wheels. I was convinced that he should be stuck in the ditch but he kept the pedal to the metal and managed to get back on the road. Just loosing maybe five seconds. Impressive :D

Well, it is general forecast for Hagfors. It looks different for stages:
Mostly the temperature on stages will be between 0 and +1, slight wet snow on first two stages and medium-strong wet snow for third stage. For Hafors, it might be rain (temperature +1..+2). Afrenoon stages should get heavy snow and heavy wet snow. Hagfors second run should also get some wet snow. For Karlstad, it will be either wet snow or rain.
It looks that there will be enough snow to cause trouble for the first cars on the road.
But it will be very close indeed.. Temperature is just between the border of snow and rain!

There was no hard ice today, lots of loose snow though. Grip doesn't come from studs only but rubber too. If the rubber is worn, then much less grip. That could be the explanation.

yes but we dont know how worn they were for each driver.Vw will not preserve tyres for Mikkelsen and spoil tyres for Ogier.It doesn t make sense,as simple as that.

Let me exlain you the best I can. Tyres marked for each driver, no driver can use other drivers tyres. Othervise team would enter 3 cars and retire 1 before SS 1 to give the two remaining more fresh tyres.

So what probably happened was that they all had 6 new ones when they started. Mikkelsen decided not to use the two new spares today to save them for the last two day, others might have opted to use those spares today.
