WRC3

SORRY LCD, can't agree with that as ive extensively played the pc version and for me the physics are average at best, they are a big improvement on the last two games but miss the mark because of the over eagerness to please the everyday casual race gamer and not the more simulation based gamer,there is to much grip and and no feel of connection to the road surface,compared to RBR pc version its poor i know this is boring and repetitive but the feedback feeling through a descent wheel and the sound collaboration in RBR gives so much more of a connected feel to every crest, rut,jump and bump in the road surface compared to WRC3s disconnected feeling imo.So as for any mods for the physics YES PLEASE and i agree with the sound mods to.

I agree RBR Is the bible of rally sim gaming, but Ιt's so unfair comparing WRC3 (or any other rally game) with It all the time.
Why no ones compares It with the CMR series or DiRT or WRC series PS2? That would be Interesting too ;)

Yes i do agree to be fair i think WRC3 has surpassed all those games mentioned regarding all out point to point timed stage rallying,but I find it difficult to accept that a modern developer cannot surpass a piece of software written 8/9 years ago especially as how quickly technology advances forward. ;) I think that the best thing that could happen would be for Code Masters to nail the next Dirt rally only game and give Milestone something to think about as a bit of competition would be beneficial to us gamers.

I was surprised how good this game actually is and in this game really has enough challenge from the beginning. I hated it when I first read that this one still has the 180 degrees of wheel rotation. I'm driving this game with Logitech G27 and steering is good and very driveable. Not too twitchy like in the earlier ones. I usually drive other games with 450 degrees of steering but steering actually works in this one.

I have been and I still am a big fan of RBR. But finally I can leave it dusting in the game shelf for a long time. I hate it when people always compare every rally game to RBR, which as a game is nowhere near perfect. Gravel feeling in WRC3 is very good, in RBR you are driving all the time on loose gravel or that is how it feels like. Top drivers usually have a change to drive cleaned roads and some countries like Finland has a very clean road in the beginning of the stage. I do have a better grip on road tires in my daily driver on finnish roads than I ever experience in RBR, something strange? Another example is what Astro83 mentioned earlier is driving on snow and ice. I have never seen a game that has enough grip on ice on studded tires. If you search enough you can find a BFGoodrich news where Loeb says that driving on ice with studded tires is the same than driving on wet tarmac.

I was surprised to notice that there is already Advanced Physics in development, but at the moment while looking at the YouTube videos it seems more like bad tyre choice mod.

The only thing that I hate about this game is that I know there isn't any modding tools and while looking at other Milestone games it seems that most we will ever get is something like livery mods. I also really hope that someday we will get more steering angle to make this game even better.

I agree with wrcfocuslive on this. The game is absolutely a good and fun rallygame. I can be the first to congratulate Milestone for a well done game and a big step forward to make VERY GOOD rallygames in future. I didn't think before this game realese that I would play a Milestone rallygame because I hated the first two games. I really hated that... :)

I think this physics is a big step in right direction, absolutely! But it's far from a good and perfect physics. The main thing is what wrcfocuslive is saying. I don't "feel" the road surface at all in the wheel. It's like I'm floating or flying over the road. In tarmac stages it's okey but on gravel and snow it is nooot good at all.
They most get this right for WRC 4 and I hope they understand that it's very importent to get it right because it would take a game like this to the sky..

I want the feeling of the surface in the wheel and then we must compare this with RBR in this way.

I think the game has a good level of difficult and I just ended my first season in Class 3 with a EVO IX and I ended up in 5th place after some mistakes. But it's fun to have to push hard for a stage win and that has Milestone succeed with...

JVille has a big point, I also love RBR as you all know but I agree big time. RBR have perfection but RBR also has many many things that is very very wrong and it's not all a perfect game. But the original RBR in "physics way" is pretty awesome and I hope that Milestone succeed to create that feeling for WRC 4.

I only want to "feel" the road. That can't be so hard to fix for next years realise!?


Then I think that Milestone should have waited with the realise of WRC 3? had they not try the game? It's ALOT of bugs and more in this game who needs to be fixed and I think they will do it but why realise a game who isn't finish??


But a job well done for making it in the rally world. Milestone is there and I now have big hopes for the future... RBR is for now in a sleep-mode! :)

Feeling to the road has been always one thing no one is ever happy. I do agree that it could be improved. I do think that it should be kind of easy to improve but would take a lot of time, really a lot. I am not certain of the following but I think that I am right. At least the earlier WRC game looked like it and I don't think they have changed the method of 3d modelling the stages. The stages are modeled as simple, which means that in the 3d modelling there is only elevation and curvature, no bumps. Bumps to the stage come from texturing. If bump maps are too simple it will feel like your driving on a perfect route, so basicly no feeling at all.

A lot of newer games has a similar technique, for example rfactor2. Older like rfactor(1) and RBR have the bumps modelled. This is great thing as it allows laser scanned stages and when modelling is done awesome it is good thing but with bad modelling things go bad. I'm sure RBR players have noticed on some stock and mostly on addon stages that suspension doesn't know how to act when road has razor sharp edge and you are not ever able to predict perfectly how suspension works.

With texture made bumps the game engine should be able to predict what is coming on the road and it doesn't eat performance as much as precise modelling. By the way performance wise this game has a great improvement, I wasn't able to run earlier game even near the full settings (motion blur, high res textures etc., not talking about resolution), now I can even though WRC warns me about graphic card memory.

I'll have to dig later that was I right but now I'm only focusing on driving. I haven't been happy ever with road feeling from first drive, when driving on steering wheel it takes at least few hours or more to adjust FFB settings.
