Great to hear they're OK! I've seen the pictures of their damaged car on ewrc and it looked rough :/

nature took over in Safari rally :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=niWQEYkXQTw
As expected, seems like Hyundai isn't more robust than it used to... Good day for Neuville as he kept close to Evans and Katsuta, but seeing what happened with Tanak and Lappi, he has to hope his i20 is the lucky one.
Kalle on another level, but in rallies like Safari you can never be sure of a win.
80% chance of showers overnight
91% chance of thunderstorms tomorrow
:D
Third year of these cars and still such problems.. argh.
Sound really ,,promising'' for them.

About Lappi's and other Hyundais..
Seems like Tanak's manu points don't matter..Quote:
The casing exploded,” he said. “We know the transmission is the weak point of this car. It’s not been developed and validated properly.
All they can do is drive at 80%.

Why is this day so long, I cant wait until tomorrow. Something tells me that there won't be Toyota TOP 3.
According to startlist, Lappi is starting tomorrow and followed by Tanak.

Did this rock just appear for Tanak or did the previous drivers avoid it keeping to the right of the marker ?
So Safari is harder on the transmission because there is more slip than "usual"? Is that a correct assumption?
If there is anything I appreciated today, it was FX Demaison's honest interview on DirtFish.
His perspectives were enlightening and frankly a tad too honest, I felt.
We now know how limiting the rules are, jokers aside. Also, how critical the initial design phase is if you are to build a successful vehicle.
Like he said in that video.. either drive over the rock and see what happens next or avoid the rock and go straight off. He chose 1st one. Also there wasn't any ,,too much'' cutting..
By now Tanak has a very long history of cars breaking at the front end due to "bad luck". Yaris, Puma, i20, doesn't matter.
Sure sometimes there is some luck involved but his driving style and particularly his "dive in" front-end setup with front bumper scratching the ground also likely plays a role. Last year both Neuville and Lappi even commented on it. (setting the car so soft it always "crashed trough").
Here the launch up was certainly more massive than what would seem normal.
As a way to make Evans and Katsuta "relax" and be overtaken by Neuville? I could almost believe it, if I didn't have zero faith in Hyundai's reliability. And the gearbox just exploding sounds something that could happen to a i20 Rally1.
I think Neuville should be happy if he gets to the end without super rally, podium would be amazing.
They explained that they couldn't strengthen the propshaft and gearbox at the same time because of the jokeres. The gearbox didn't become weaker but is now relatively the weakest link because the propshaft is stronger. Think of it like this, if you take a stock car with stock drivetrain and keep adding power the gearbox/half shafts/propshaft/diff will at one point be overwhelmed and break, if you strengthen the weakest link at one point the next weakest component will fail unless every component is changed for a strong enough one.

,,we had very busy road section and it didn't close correctly, our mistake''
And all that just out of service for a long loop.. :/
I just woke up. It took one minute to close it?
Evans had puncture and changed it, Munster with bent rear wheel..
Neuville will be a champion half way into the championship if it continues this way
