And Wales Rally is now started!

This has to be in top 3 of worst micky mouse stages ever created.
Yes, the camera crew isn't doing any wonders in there

Terrible stage....both for us who looks on WRC-tv and the spectators i think.
Nice shakedown today :D

Problems for Oliver with front screen fogging.
What the heck is happening to the coverage this evening, all over the shop so far.
Nice to see Solberg stage end commentary again :D

Unfortunately in this weather and in the dark the stage is really boring for spectating in TV.
But the close up zoom-filming isn't doing it any favors

Quite big gaps, nice stage. Not just good for TV.
The R2 Fiesta on full song sound like a 2 stroke SAAB!
I like it!
Stage probably already much more slippery as Breen and Tidemand was quite slower than Petter Solberg in R5.
Petter faster than Breen and Tidemand
So far not a single shot from onboard any car.
For what it is I think it's pretty good in person. I'm right at the South of the circuit. TV coverage looks terrible though!
My video, corner at 00:27 and 01:17 has been good, especially with WRCs. This is Oliver Solberg: https://youtu.be/8yUXs-2AvYM
Suninen did seemed to enjoy the drifting :D
Meeke looks so smooth there, even left-foot braking on straights to control wheel-spin towards the end of the stage.
One can clearly win a lot of time on this short show stage.
Not sure this works as a night stage? Iconic British circuit but you can't really see it.
Happy to be in my Welsh cottage with a beer ready for tomorrow.

Stalled engine in a junction for Ott.
Yaris stalls at a junction/hairpin?!? Never seen that before.
Toyota Stallaris?

Colin: Why did the engine stall?
Ott: Because the engine stalled.

Rain is getting much heavier
pre-event press conference https://www.fia.com/news/wrc-rally-gb-press-conference
This bit was interesting
as it seems we're in for a rainy morning but a non-rainy afternoon.Quote:
Let’s see what the weather does. If it does rain, it can be more consistent and wash [the mud off] the road – and if the sun comes out, the grip can get worse and it can be the most tricky.
Petter on Pirellis in a wet GB, rings a bell.
It's quite a good stage but it really should've been run in daylight for fans & viewers benefit.
Shakedown back to Llandudno and onto Liverpool could've been done by early afternoon... then started Oulton Park by 4.30pm.
Had an ok day watching RGB today - didn't start well when Police closed the Wallasey tunnel while I was driving through it. I sat in there for an hour before they reopened it, which meant I was late arriving to shakedown and had a longer than planned walk all the way up to the stage, only arriving at a 90R just as Tanak started the stage. The action was good, though I can see from the videos linked earlier that there were better spots if I'd had more time to explore.
In the afternoon I went to watch the ceremonial start - not usually my kind of thing, but I live in Liverpool and the office where I work is only 500m from the rally start - so it felt quite surreal watching the cars drive across the road and park up at the place where I often go for a walk in my lunch hour! Went onto the rooftop balcony of the Mersey Ferries building (for the cost of a Pepsi in their bar) to get some panoramic photos, though unfortunately the sun had gone in by then.
Dyfnant tomorrow I think - can't be bothered getting up at 3am to do Elsi first (and get soaked in the process), so I'll probably just stay in Dyfnant all day and have a walk through the stage between runs.
