Mikkelsen has woken up a bit today and won both stages so far, chipping away at Loeb’s lead.
Solans getting into the groove now. Just 0.2s off fastest time on SS8 (in the old Fabia Evo).
Did Cais take a shortcut on Groupo Marquez?!
Mikkelsen closing in on Loeb, but only two stages left.
EDIT: Its all over, lost some significant time on SS11 (puncture?)

Cais is flying - fastest on SS11 :bounce:
Veiby also lost a lot on SS11, positions 3-6 up for grabs on the final stage.
With this rally Loeb ended Mikkelsens hopes to get any seat in WRC main class
Not that there was much hope anyway
Puncture for Cais. Solans in the old Fabia Evo beat Veiby in the new Rally2 RS.
First time with fabia and new team,co driver his girlfriend (her first big rally) new michelin tyres he havent drive again, first time at Azores where at recce he had to make new notes, and was full of fog.
What can you say about this Legend...
Get him back in the Puma asap M-Sport Ford !
Simply epic... no words
The first time I started following WRC was end of 2006, when Loeb had to miss the final 4 rallies and Gronholm was trying to win them all or almost to get the championship. He got 3x 1st and 1x 5th, and was not enough. I thought: how good is this Loeb guy, winning a world championship with 12/16 rallies run!
However, that put the nine-time world champion first on the road for Saturday’s seven stages, and therefore at even more of a disadvantage to Mikkelsen who helped develop the Fabia RS Rally2 and has won the Azores twice before.
But Mikkelsen’s victory bid would unravel on Graminhais 2 when, pushing hard, he hit a bank with the right-rear of his Škoda and caused damage. WRC2 driver Cais impressively won the stage, but more importantly Mikkelsen fell to 18.2s off the lead with just the powerstage remaining.
Loeb was off the hook. Suddenly he was under no pressure, and the 49-year-old was clear to claim the 106th victory of his distinguished rallying career as well as the powerstage win.

Well, Mikkelsen already looking like a bit of a mug. Stupid comments again about wanting do win all events he enters this year and "do a Lappi".
1st event: a man who has spent the majority of his career driving Skodas of some sort, developed the last few fabias get crushed by a retired old man who has never been to the azores or driven a fabia before iirc.
Not looking good for Mikkelsen, but everyone knows that there was the GOAT and he would have probably beat also Ogier, Tänak, Rovanperä and Neuville if they had been competing in Azores. Simply the best!
