Some video of the test.
The 208 is the very first R2C car to be homologated (due to 1.2T engine).
50kg more than Fiesta MK8 R2T

50kg more only if the Fiesta R2T is really down to the minimum weight. ;)
In our championship it also means that the car is in different class than the R2B cars (class 5 instead of 6). In the international it's both RC4.
I absolutely love the new 208, it looks so good. So this is the first car from Peugeot Sport to actually ditch the 1.6 displacement right?! I guess they will keep it for the new R5.
I find it strange why M-sport hasn't based the R2 on the proper MK8 Fiesta ST, and did it on a ST-Line. I had my ST delivered last month and I feel like it is already set up as a proper racer even if its a road car, it rides so damn hard.
Francis44 the MK8 R5 will be based on ST i guess.
I'm surprised there were only 450 cars built of the Peugeot 208 R2. I expected more, it was meant to be a "cheap car" for young drivers after all...

No, sorry, I don't have any comparisons. I just thoght that if the number of Peugeots R2 is lower than the number of combined sales of Skoda R5 and Ford R5 ( 450 < 500 ), then it is not much. After all, Peugeot 208 R2 was designed as a "cheap" car for young drivers, it was widely promoted by Peugeot Sport, local Peugeot dealers around Europe, there were many cup series in various countries and... at the end of the day... just 450 cars after 7 years on sale...
Does anybody have the same problem like me? It's harder and harder for me to use the Rallyforum...

New 208 looks like it is early in the testphase looked like it needs more work on suspension.
Cool engine sound on the 3 cyl.
Look of car is very nice for a R2.
R2 market has many different makes, Fiesta R2 is used as the entry level car in WRC etc...go figure.
Yes, 7+ those extras. Also i know some situations, local cups to be more exact, where one has dirven a Fiesta R2....level playfield, in order to get an advantage, changed it for a 208. This applied for the previous generations.
More, just that some of them are well over ten years old today, when it was Grp. N, A and purpose-built S1600 times. These times still last, as those old grp. N and A cars today are cheap and with lots of knowhow and parts. A road-going one for the basis can be bought for around 3k eur. Ready-built ones around 10-25k eur. Also there are other interesting choices now available for a lot less like M3`s for example. Leaves us mostly wealthy youngsters trying to aim for the international series` buying-renting them.
Rumours about Renault Clio R2T.
Unfortunatelly, it looks like that modern "R2T" cars will be more closer to R3T than R2...

Btw, the new Corsa will be released soon; same platform and engines from the 208. Let’s hope a R2 version won’t take long.
Hope so, a rebadged 208 R2T would cost very little and it'd be a fine replacement for the Adam. Anyway, it was told by PSA bosses that Opel would return to motorsport after returning to profits and that already happened last year.
Btw, the current C3 is still based in the old PF1 platform. The DS3 Crossback inaugurated the new CMP platform last year, followed this year by the 208 and the Corsa.
That's the minimum weight, how much does the new Fiesta R2T really weigh? I remember in the beginning of S2000 the minimum weight was lower than anyone, apart from the works Fiat team, could achieve. Then they raised it...

Sounds terrible but looks faster than the current R2. Anyway, it’ll be a crime if Peugeot doesn’t release a R5 version; it’d look smashing!
Btw, it went under the forum radar but Renault is also sorting R1/R2 versions of the new Clio 1.3T; apparently the R1 model (180cv) will be initially released to be used in one make series but a R2 kit could soon follow. Public presentation during Rallye Couer de France (28/30 Sep).

@RallyPower, from what I heard from someone who knows his business around Renault Sport, the Clio will be again a R3T car.
That would be a surprise. The new R1/R2/R3 rules have turned R1 into a sort of R2- and R3 into a R2+, as they all can now get a 5 speed sequential gearbox and a turbo engine up to 1333cc (with tuning levels upgraded according to the class). The new Clio has 1323cc and Renault Sport main aim is to provide an economical car for their rally cups; it’d be strange if they choose to develop it under the more expensive R3 class.
Anyway, from what I’ve heard (and mostly read) RS will start with a cheaper Clio (limited to 180cv) for rally cups use (probably a R1 or a ligth spec R2) and later provide a Kit (full R2 or, less likely, R3) for the drivers/teams eager to figth for 2wd wins. At the end of the month we’ll know better.
Does anyone know if the FIA has ideas for a new kit car category but 2wd?
And by the way, besides the next 208 and Corsa R2, are there other cars coming in the near future?
Clio
Why another kit cars?
Rather than reforming the R3 category, FIA could make a R4-KIT category but with 200hp and 2wd.
I don't see any point in doing that and absolutely no chance it could succeed.
Clearly the FIA should not have such an idea in mind but I think they should make for a larger amount of 2wd cars. A new Maxi kit cars from the 90s.
