It's good to see the next round back this weekend :)
So many months after the first round :mark:
Next weekend there's the Aarova Rally in Oudenaarde indeed. It's a small rally organized by SuperStage (organizers behind Ypres), due to the many events dropping from the calendar, they made it to the Belgian Championship. The event consists out of 3 different stages, 2 driven 3x, the other 4x. All together roughly 90km SS. All stages are on sunday. The entry list can be found here: https://www.aarovarally.com/content/...st-aarova-2020
23 R5 cars including most of the top BRC drivers, and Breen in a i20 WRC. Like last year in France, the federation changed the rules to allow the new WRCar... But fortunately he cannot score points for the championship. Behind those there are quite a few competitive GT3s and a good amount of R2/Rally4.
Live results will be available here: https://www.aarovarally.com/content/...va-nationaal-1
Sad news today is that Rallye du Condroz (sheduled 2 weeks before Ypres) has been cancelled as the organizers couldn't work out a plan with the approval of the local governments...
restart of the Belgian Rally Championship 2020 with the Aarova Rally : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUHOUNd7SFk with Craig Breen
So the Aarova Rally was won by Breen (no surprise). Fastest Belgian was Adrian Fernémont. The event was very short (only 92km of SS, never seen before in the Belgian championship), but almost everyone had his share of struggles or problems. From 77 entrants, only 40 made it to the finish. If Ypres would have conditions like these, some R5 cars could be needed for filling the top 8... ;)

Ditches like in Ypres!
Jan Kopecky tested today some kilometers from my home and also not far from Ypres. It's a know test stage that's used every year for PET's of Ypres.

Entry list for this weekend's South Belgian Rally is out: https://southbelgianrally.com/wp-con...-List-1014.pdf
Very strong list with both Tänak and Breen in i20 WRC. In BRC most major drivers of the championship are there (apart from Verschueren), some foreign guests are Mads Ostberg (C3 R5), Nikolay Gryazin (i20 R5) and former French champions Yohan Rossel (C3 R5) and Sylvain Michel (Fabia R5). These stages are new to most of the BRC drivers, as this is a new event. It's been run as a local event before, but not so many drivers have experience with it, so that makes it even more interesting.
List looks really good, but I go to Hemicuda as it's much more similar to Ypres.
Hello ! I can not find online ticket link on www.hemicuda.be !!! Does it mean that tickets are already sold out. As I understand, there are only 400 tickets for stage available, so that must be the case.
Yes, all tickets (1200) are sold out. Same for the South Belgian Rally, as it's in a different area (different rules) in the country, 5000 tickets were available, all are sold out.
how the starting order will be for the south-belgian event?
Normally Breen and Tänak as first two (don't know who will run first) and then the R5 cars. I'll try to post a link to the start list and live results here, when available.
South Belgian Rally is cancelled due to covid-19, the local mayors don't allow the rally to run anymore. Same goes for the JMC Rallye which was planned on sunday. So, without cancellations, we still have 2 events left for this weekend, which are the Hemicuda Rally (where Ogier and Evans plan to participate) and the (smaller) Rallye-Sprint Estinnes.

Next year there will be in Belgium(on 5 rounds + the rally of Luxemburg)the PSA Motorsport Rally Cup, running with both the Peugeot 208 Rally 4 + the Opel Corsa Rally 4 !!! :D
I wasn't expecting to learn that today ;)
I think I've read somewhere that Sport & You from Portugal(organizer of the Peugeot Rally Cup Iberica)was doing the same next year(at least was interested in the Opel Corsa)
Beside the PSA Cup, there will be a Renault Clio Rally5 Cup in Belgium as well :)
First round of the championship has been postponed from February to November. No full calendar yet.

Last weekend we had the first round of the Belgian Championship, the South Belgian Rally. First time this rally runs, although the stages were mostly run in the past in a local rally.
Final results: https://www.ewrc-results.com/results...2021/?s=328923
French driver Nicolas Ciamin (C3 R5) was fastest on the 1st stage but retired with a broken driveshaft after SS2. Ghislain De Mevius (Fabia R5) took over and won his 2nd national rally. Reigning champion Fernémont (Fabia R5) was 2nd, Kris Princen (C3 R5) 3th.
Charles Munster was fastest Junior and won the new Stellantis Cup (208 and Corsa Rally4). Benoit Verlinde won the new Clio Trophy.
Loong time no posts here... Though the Belgian championship has been very exciting so far. In the last 5 rounds the difference between the first and second at the end of the rally has never been greater than 8,8s. We've had some spectacular battles, with a 3-way fight for the title. This weekend there's the Spa Rally. Fernémont is leading the championship ahead of De Mevius and Munster. It's pretty simple. If Fernémont wins, he is champion. If De Mevius or Munster win, they are champion, IF Fernémont doesn't finish 2nd AND takes at least 2 powerstage points more than them.
Next those 3 drivers there are some others who can mix in the battle for the win. Lefebvre who won last Condroz is taking part, and Rossel as well, both in C2 Rally2 from team DG Sport (also organizer of this rally). Cherain and De Cecco are locals who could go for a close finish too.
In terms of weather, it's cold and rainy, roads will be very muddy. The temperature is just above 0°C right now. Snow is not likely but possible, snow tyres are allowed.

Nicolas Gilsoul will return to rallying taking over the co-driver duties for Gino Bux in 2022 Belgian rallying championship. This pair could provide some surprises this season.

Former Formula 1 driver Jos Verstappen is going to make his rallying debut in Belgium. He is going to drive Citroen C3 Rally2 in Rally van Haspengouw on February 26.
More about it here:

Stéphane Lefèbvre aims the belgian championship with DG Sport(in their Citroën C3 Rally 2) :D
Very interesting line-up at DG Sport !!!! Stéphane Lefèbvre(C3 Rally 2), Maxime Potty(C3 Rally 2), Kris Princen(DS3 WRC) :)
Can't wait for the Rally van Haspengouw next week :bounce:
Easy victory for Lefebvre in first rally of the championship, Haspengouwrally. He took the lead on first stage and never left it again. Very good rally for Bux, first time in R5 and taking second place. Belgian champion Fernemont lost too much on first stage with three donuts after watersplash. He never recovered from that, finishing fourth at the end. The podium was completed by De Mevius.
And I was very impressed by Verstappen. He was on speed from the start and was looking very good in the fast corners. He lost a bit in the end (probably in the dark) but I'm sure he will improve more during the year and might take a podium somewhere in the second half of the season.
For Bux, I think he still has margin as he was a bit irregular (some excellent passes mixed with passes that where a bit hesitating). But he was fastest belgian already, I'm impressed!
guys give us a link with stage times please!
very good times from J Verstappen!
