I've just had a belated xmas present from Samsung: an update which has given me the ability to run two apps in separate windows on my S3. It's limited to a few dozen compatible apps such as Maps and Facebook but I'm sure more will be added. They've also improved the stock browser, gallery, camera and keyboard beyond recognition (although I'll stick with Dolphin and SwiftKey for now). :D
Sounds good although Iain has been complaining about the keyboard change.
I saw that. Anecdotal evidence time: I don't know anybody who uses the stock Android keyboard, they all prefer Swype or SwiftKey. It's nice to have the choice :pQuote:

I've finally joined Daniel's favorite gadget club.
This is my first pad ever.
The latest retina display, 16 GB, wifi/cellular contraption from Apple.
My eyes are now going to take a rest as I usually use my iPhone in the house to read my mail, FB and forum.
Not a bad way to end the old year and start the new.
:)
We bought a Samsung Galaxy S 4.2 media player Samsung GALAXY S WiFi 4.2 (basically an Android version of the Ipod touch) from Amazon in the 'Black friday' deals for just £69.99 delivered and were going to sell it on... however on reading up on it I discovered it had a good DAC in it (Wolfson) and with the right music player would make an excellent DAP.. so I asked if I could get it for my Xmas. :D
I've installed Neutron music player on it and its just amazing.. the sound quality is the best I've ever heard from any device period.
After having used it for over a week I can certainly recommend the iPad Mini. Really light and thin and a screen just nicely sized for reading sitting on the sofa.
Good for you Mark. I'm glad you are enjoying it.Quote:

I can also see the advantage of a smaller version like yours.
cool stuff. awesome as a matter of fact.
Do you run Softpauer's F1 Timing app? I'm curious how it looks from the standard size iPad to the Mini.Quote:

Since I've only had it since Christmas Day then no :pQuote:

Yikes! What a rip off! I think Sky do an F1 app for iPad. Will have to see how that works.Quote:

Yes, same here. Used to love sitting watching a Grand Prix. But weekends are precious time as it is, so I can rarely afford 3 hours on a Sunday lunchtime, plus Freya won't go that long without CBeebies!Quote:

Had a chance to play with the Nexus 7 and iPad mini for a week, courtesy of my relatives during the holidays. I prefer the Nexus 7, but that's simply because of Android being my OS preference and being more used to it. The iPad mini is lighter though. The only good use of the tablets I found was reading magazines or comic books, that's it. For anything else, they just don't fit anywhere between my smartphone and laptop.
On another note, I'm gonna be spending about 4 hours at Terminal 5 at Heathrow airport tomorrow for a flight connection. I'm guessing there are no free wifi zones. Has anybody here spent any time at Heathrow? Any tips?
Nowadays every airport in Europe has free wifi zones.
I love my iPad.
I am currently watching the first season of "the West Wing" on Netfix. I can't stop.
This pad technology is amazing.
Daniel was right. These iPads are magic.
WiFi of course. Free? Dunno like.
Paris CDG has 15 minutes free (per MAC ;) :p ) :bandit:
Nah, not at Heathrow. I did a little Googling and they have Boingo, and what appears to be rather exorbitant fees for a few hours of surfing.Quote:

Paris CDG also doesn't have free wi-fi as I found out last year.
DO they up the allowance when the drivers/staff are on strike(i.e most of the time)? :pQuote:

Amazing technology and brilliant idea of mister Steve Jobs. (again Daniel was right) :s pin:
Pros: It rocks and I can now sit in the comfort of my own home and be able to get into the forum, Facebook, Netflix and other internet pages without having to strain my eyes reading from my cool yet too small lettered iPhone.
Cons: For someone that could not bare having smudges in his computer screen and would make sure that no one dared do so, I find myself looking at a screen that is so full of finger smudges that it has taken a while to realize that a good solution is to not eat pop corn as I scroll through my iPad and to always carry one of those nifty eye glass cleaner rags to constantly clean the surface. so I guess this 'con" has been solved.
My other con is that I agree with Mark, that thing is too heavy. It's got it's practical contraption that will make it stand up on a desk or coffee table but when you actually carry it as you try to sit comfortably in your sofa the dam thing is heavy. I wonder if the Windows Surface and other tabs the same size have the same weight issue.
My son got himself an iPad mini and yes, it is a superb piece of not heavy technology.
But my bottom line is, those pads are a great addition to our toy/tech contraption filled life. I love it.(even with the weight and all)
:s mokin:
Told you that you should have got the mini!
Used facetime for the first time this morning, me on my iPhone in the office and Karen on her iPad at home, works well! :D . Freya kept going around the back to see if Daddy was there :)
