Belgian Rally News

Had a great day yesterday! The stages in Haspengouw are usually the least interesting of the championship, when dry. When it's wet and muddy as it was yesterday, the road becomes a big mess and makes it very interesting. A bit surprised by Ghislain De Mevius his strong performance, he adapted to the new Fabia R5 very well! William Wagner was also a great addition, with his spectacular style it didn't take long to become the crowd's favorite. Let's hope he does a few more events in Belgium... :)

For people who are fan of this championship, on the facebook Page of thé BRC there were stage end and regroup interviews with Colin Clark. Is interesting to follow when you are at home..

I don't know why, but it looks like he lost his confidence some time ago. Also the Polo looked quite delicate to drive, the back end looked very nervous in comparison to other R5 cars. It was the first rally with their own Polo R5, last year he did one event with a Polo R5, but it was a rented car. Let's hope he finds a good set-up and gets his confidence back, we all know how fast he's been.

I'm afraid that for fighting the title is gone for him, lot of "younger" guns who are a bit faster. And I think the Fabia Evo would fit him more. DG Sport sold their 2 Polo's because they are not really adapted to Belgian Roads..

Ghislain winning is a bit surprising but ended last season already very good.

Biggest surprise was William Wagner adapted fast to our roads and also his first kilometers with the C3..

It sure is! Haspengouw always has one of the worst entry lists of the championship... You can expect a lot more R5 cars in Wallonie, Ypres and Condroz!

I heard that he said in an interview yesterday he was planning to do 6 rounds. Would be great news, fast and spectacular driver!

Same things are being said about the Skoda Fabia R5 Evo. Apparently the old Fabia R5 gives more confidence in slippery conditions.

In the mean time, Dilley does not start for personal reasons (no more info about it). He'll be replaced by Sylvain Michel, in the same car with the same colors and the same codriver (Lara Vanneste). For Michel it's his very first start in Belgium, but he's a former French tarmac and gravel champion for a reason. :)

The spa rally has been canceled. Moorslede and les ardennes next week also.

TAC Rally, Rallye de Wallonie and Sezoensrally, rounds 3, 4 and 5 are cancelled (or possibly postponed) as well.
I'm afraid Ypres will be cancelled as well...

In my opinion there is little hope for whole championships not to be canceled - especially of the international ones because even if one country gets well rather quickly, travelling will be impossible for much longer time.

New date for Spa Rally, December 12-13. If the championship can restart in september (Omloop van Vlaanderen) it would mean a championship of 5 events, in case the cancelled events aren't rescheduled. Of course it's early to say, no one knows how long this will last, next event could be Ypres, or it could be next year.

hi guys, little off-topic. Anybody can tell me the name of a team there who owns at least four Porsche 911 GT3 for rent? Thanks

I don't think there's any team in Belgium that has 4 of them for rent. Most GT3's in Belgium are privately owned by the drivers themselves. I think BMA still offers one for rent. Also Johan Dekens rented out his GT3 to Glenn Janssens earlier this year.

Indeed JTMotors Dauchy serviced 4 Porsche's but all had different owners. LLM Mecasport has more than 1 for Renting I think.

Thanks guys, its just to know where a "spanish" porsche went. The former owner only remember that the team serviced a lot of porsche...the car was sold about 2 months ago... MY2008 version.

And i have one and more difficult doubt about another porsche sold to a belgian driver in mid 2016. Another MY2008. The spanish guy received as part of the payment Eddy Vandevelde Subaru (light blue). Any idea??

Belgian Newsflash: all events cancelled until end of August. At least we know now… Very disappointing but no suprise.

The fate of this year's @ypresrally is expected to be decided next week, as the event says it is not affected by the Belgian government's recent extension of a ban on mass gatherings and is still planning to run the rally in June at present.
