Great mountain stages, different to our usual, ones, but also very terrible weather today. Many accidents happened today. There are very few information available. There was only one female crew on the entry list so I suppose to know who it was but it was not confirmed so I will not post anything speculative.Quote:

Now it is confirmed that 44-years old Evo IX driver Věra Filipová died in the accident. Her daughter and co-driver Karolína was seriously injured (I'm not sure she was a daughter but I think so). The accident happened in very bad weather at the end of stage, some people say behind flying finish. I can't confirm that. There are also reports that due to the chaos on the road next driver lost control and crashed into the already crashed car. What is really sad is that the next driver was Vladimír Filip, husband of the late Věra. She was doing some amateur hill-climbs and various races since 2005. This was her first Rallye Cup event. I found an old article where she described the road where the accident happened as her favorite hill-climb track. During the rally the road was run in both directions and I don't know if it happened downhill or uphill.
Rest in peace :(

Very sad news... R.I.P. :(
Horrible... Very sad news again. :(
Rest in peace! :(
My condolences to the late Vera and her family and friends, may she rest in peace. Another tragedy for Czech rallying, it doesn't seem to stop. :(
R.I.P. Věra. Condolences to everyone who is involved and especially to Karolína and Vladimir.
This really can not continue like this. I really hope that someone could find a solution in Czech rallies or else there could be some bans from the State authorities...
It's hard to think about some common solutions in case of this accident. The series Rallye Cup is not held under national ASN so we can hardly speak about some common rules. I watched onboard from the other stage and I can hardly say anything against it. Very twisty technical road, plenty of chicanes on almost every straight, no spectators in dangerous places. The points I would personally change for the Rallye Cup would be to limit car power. If I'm not mistaken in this moment there are no restrictors used there. The second point could be not running the stages in both directions which is quite common there. On asphalt the dirt and gravel in the corners can be very unlogic when run in opposite way.
If I'm not mistaken it was first ever fatal accident in this series. There were several others in amateur events in the past but generally most of the fatal accidents happen in "big" events under ASN where the competition is much stronger.
A bit shaky video from very nice places of Rallye Český Krumlov

Meanwhile there's a discussion if or how to run Rally Krkonoše. Several nearby villages were damaged by recent floods. In the moment it looks like the rally will be held but one stage will be skipped and a charity action will be organized to help people from those affected villages.
Online results Rallye Krkonoše, SS3/7 canceled because it is in the area damaged by floods of last week.
Rally Krkono
The stages are all new for everybody.
Heavy rain and hailstones on SS4!
Finish. Sýkora won in his second only S2000 start. The last stage brought some drama when Małyszczycki set great second time and moved from sixth to fourth while Plíhal dropped from fourth to seventh. Kořístka crashed for the first time in his life in the last stage from 8th place overall.

Great onboard of Sýkora from the toughest stage (some wet gravel on otherwise dry asphalt stage etc.). Small image glitches but still great to watch.

Entry list for Rally Hustopeče including Jan Kopecký: http://www.autosport.cz/zavody/soubor.php?f=14567
Rally Hustopeče online: Agrotec Petronas Syntium Rally Hustope
SS1 at 18:48.
Kopecký took the lead after SS4 and is leading Pech by 4"7. Tarabus is third (+29"4). Very fast time for Jan Černý in SS4, 2nd with a R2 car.
There was a short light rain in SS4 after first crews and thanks to silly starting order some 2WD profited from it. Later in the night there was a storm which brought a lot of dirt and mud on the roads of second leg. Great fight anyway because Pech is now back in the lead. I think there are three main factors - Hustopeče were always his strong rally - it's very good rally for turbo cars with good acceleration from zero and high top speed (Pech was able to win against S2000 there even in Evo IX) - and finally the team did a lot of development work on the Mini.
Regarding the Mini here is an interesting quote from Pech
By the way Černý now lost over 5 minutes in SS6.Quote:
I'm absolutely satisfied with the car. I don't want to speak too soon but we managed to fix the bugs mainly ourselves without the help of the English. It's our team product. A satisfaction is that now Proidrive wants to copy our ideas but we won't tell them anything of course because they didn't tell us a s.h.i.t. too.
After a thrilling battle Jan Kopecký completes his hattrick on this rally. Nobody except Kopecký is now able to follow Pech and his Mini now. The days of naturally aspirated S2000 slowly become a past...
1. Kopecký (Fabia S2000) 1:38:24,7
2. Pech (Mini S2000) +2,2
3. Tarabus (Fabia S2000) +1:44,8
4. Jelínek (Fabia S2000) +3:36,4
5. Odložilík (Fabia S2000) +3:46,5
6. Štajf (Impreza gr.N) +6:04,2
7. Růžička (Impreza gr.N) +9:09,9
8. Chepil (Evo IX gr.N) +9:53,8
9. Peták (Clio R3) +10:03,9
10. Dunovský (Ignis S1600) +10:24,2

No stage names or lengths yet. Last stage on Saturday starts rather late. Perhaps it's first a loop of three repeated, then one stage run twice in the evening.
Very nice onboards from Hustopece in Mediasport.cz - especially from Kopecky and Pech. Very interesting stages with tricky sections, although at times a lot of straights.

It looks like there is always something is going on...
Or am I wrong??
Recently I would call it a crusade against spectators. Me and many others stopped going to spectate because it doesn't worth it (to be fair not all events are like that). I will go to Barum though but probably nowhere else.
Otherwise there is a significantly lower number of competitors, also on the top and the quality and atmosphere overall has decreased in comparison with last few years. Organizers face big problems to get permissions for running many stages etc.
Not much positives recently...

Onboard of Pech from SS11. Some parts are very boring straights but from 4:45 to finish it's great. Especially some jump in the forest.
