NASCAR on NASN-Sky-FOX etc.

NASCAR SPRINT CUP SERIES ON SKY SPORTS LIVE!!!

Dear Sir/madam

I must say the Coverage of the Nascar Sprint Series recently has been extremely poor indeed.
SkySports subscribers like myself were under the impression the races were to be shown live in HD all season long.
First the HD coverage was dropped fairly quickly, then the sometimes delayed live races started to be shown,
following this it lost a dedicated channel and was pushed onto the Red Button access,
and Now there is no live coverage only a delayed Highlights package in recent weeks.

Furthermore, You could not have chosen a worse time to downgrade the Nascar coverage, just as it is reaching its Grand finale,
for example ( a bit like showing all the group matches in the Football World Cup HD live and then Just showing highlights of the Semi-final and Final!!)
This is a disgrace and the quicker NASN or some other broadcaster pick up the Uk TV rights for Nascar 2010 the better.

ps. The actual coverage when it is shown Live is excellent, and fair play to Keith and his Guests for providing info to the masses.

personally I hope not- aside from the recent issues I think Sky have done a great job with it. Plus that would mean having both Sky Sports and ESPN

NASCAR is a very minority interest sport over here so we're almost lucky to see it at all- Sky didn't need to pick it up when NASN lost the rights. As it's Fontana am not too bothered- it's usually a real snooze fest anyway

I too have complained to Sky several times in the past few weeks about the dire coverage they have suddenly decided to give to NASCAR.

I just can't understand why they gave so much time to covering the Sprint Cup over the past two years, and then as soon as the most important part of the 2009 championship starts (The Chase), they put NASCAR firmly on the backburner as if it never existed!

It's clear as day that Sky have decided to unceremoniously ditch NASCAR from their package at the end of the season, but to do it in the way in which they have done is very, very disappointing indeed, and those involved in making these poor decisions should be hanging their heads in shame.

If ESPN do take it on, we may well see a lot more full HD coverage than just one race a year from Sky, the Daytona 500.

Who knows?

I wouldnt be suprised if we get news that ESPN will have NASCAR from next season. I personally wouldnt mind this, the American feed is ten times better, the UK studio stuff is pointless and frankly annoying.

Dont ESPN sell the international rights for NASCAR?, i remember reading that here before. If they do it would make sense for them to keep it for themselves, ESPN are making a major play in the sports over here.

Its pretty obvious that SKY arent interested in NASCAR now and that has got to be down to the fact they aint gonna have it anymore.

I really hope that NASCAR goes to ESPN from Sky Sports, principally because after next Sunday's race at Homestead i'm taking Sports off my Sky package, with A1GP down the plug hole there is nothing left to watch on Sky sports until next season. Thats the thing, Sky were plugging that Indycars would be back next year throughout the last couple of races of the season yet they have avoided any mention of next seasons coverage during the live NASCAR races. ESPN would be a better deal, it costs less and you also get live DTM races which i've missed this season. I think the reason that Sky picked up NASCAR in the first place was the promise of Dario Franchitti providing some home interest, but that failed to last barely half a season and I can only assume that Sky had a deal for 2 seasons of coverage. Sky Sports is alright but very expensive and i'm not paying for what I watch, i'm paying for thier insanely pricey Premier League football deal, which I frankly rarely watch and wouldnt miss having.

You are correct Sky said at the time they signed the deal it was for 2 years. ESPN will hopefully give us the american feed so we dont have to put up with the muppests in the studio.

I get your point about Sky, but im a sports nut so will still have it for the footy, I have ESPN as well for footy, UFC and the odd hockey game so wherever it goes ill have it. I just want the best coverage and Sky have shown many times over the years if it aint football they dont care and coverage is sloppy at best for most of the other stuff they have.

Also hoping for ESPN. They have a couple of channels they can spread it over. Why not stick on the Nationwide Series while they're at it.

I don't know why people are moaning about the Sky coverage- aside from the odd race it's been perfectly fine these last 2 years. I don't mind the UK studio breaks- it's better than endless adverts or the old in car that happened with Setanta.

personally I hope it doesn't go to ESPN- I have Sky Sports for Tennis, IndyCar & NASCAR- I don't want to be spending extra money on endless bloody football matches that I have absolutely no interest in

as for the DTM- once a truly brilliant series that has unfortunately turned itself into a F1 with roof type event where races are decided on strategy rather than actual overtaking on the tracks (or at least that's what it was like when last I watched it in 2008)- get rid of the pitstops, bring back the double header format from the old days, plus a third manufacturer and I'd get interested in it again

sometimes live isn't better. i watch the dtm(and f3euroseries) on sky sports. we also watch the england rugby union games in hd. if espn get nascar then i guess i won't be watching it the same for the same reasons as djparky. as usual we get the special offer leaflets for espn listing what will be on offer BUT no mention of nascar. i'll give the offer a miss.
