Salo completely in his own league today. His Mitsu is now back in international R4-spec (last year it was national R4, with bigger restrictor, etc), but due the new rules which allow the use of racing fuel he's having a really good feeling with the engine.
Positive surprise in the SM3 class (=R2), newcomer Joonas Tokee showed some good speed with P208 R2 before problems on SS3. After day one Vuorisalo (last year's R2 silver medalist) is leading the SM3 class and Henri Haapamäki showing good speed, being second with C2 R2 and very experienced (Arctic) codriver Lasse Hirvijärvi.
Rally over for Salo, retired due to overheating issues...
First win in Finland for R5, Janne & Markku Tuohino win Arctic Lapland Rally 2014!

What's the difference between SM1 and SM2 Lancers ?
SM1 is called "Super4" and it includes: FIA R5, Super 2000 (2.0 and 1.6T), FIN R 4WD (including WRC cars that have been homologated 31.12.2002 or earlier).Quote:

Therefore SM2 Lancers are "regular" Gr. N cars and in SM1 Lancer's are FIN R type (more freedom in the rules) cars (bigger restrictor, etc.).
thank you !
